I've noticed on the-mechanic.com web site that they use a common phrase used by Union's that says "Strenght in Numbers" as a banner for their bulletin board.
The only difference I see is that this banner is engolfed in flames!
This is an example of what AMFA is in process of doing to Union jobs in this industry and now they are wanting to gain representation at AA.
With promoting the perception of "Strenght in Numbers" the reality is they will "Burn down the House"....!

Right!

And you do see what strength in numbers got us, no?

1995 brought us 6 1/2% raise over six years!

Let's not forget the current $20,000 /yr paycut. Sick time loss, vacation loss, holiday loss holiday pay loss, double time loss, IOD reduced.

Yes. Strength in numbers allright!

by the way!

If there were strength in numbers as you say, the AFL-CIO should have called a nationwide strike in every sector to protest the government's attack on workers rights, pensions, benefits, outsourcing of jobs!

WHERE IS THE MIGHT AFL CIO AND THEIR STRENGTH IN NUMBERS?

Well at least you got something right-they will be getting ballotts.

Like hopeful said where is the strength in numbers? Where was it when the President fired PATCO? Where was it when the courts slammed the EAL workers and would not let them set up secondary pickets as provided by the RLA? Where was it when the President slammed UAL mechanics, who were AFL-CIO affiliated IAM at the time, with a PEB? And where was it when the airlines and the banks, with a little helpful legislation from the government and a wink and a nod from the unions slammed the entire airline industry's workers with the bill for Sept 11 and the recession as workers in this industry took massive pay and benifit cuts?

I know, "We will get em next time". Somehow, since I've been hearing that for twenty years I dont believe it. Especially since those who are telling me that continue to collect their six figure salaries and attend parties with management as we take pay cuts.

I'll say it again, the graph of AA mechanics pay vs CPI shows what the TWU has done over the last twenty years. We have gone through several economic cycles, but with the exception of the AMFA spike we have always given concessions, in the bad times as well as the good times.
