Just checked load factor stats. This month will be a record breaker for June. Bravo to all U frontline employees for dealing with such high loads under such stressful working conditions!

U could run at 100 percent load factor and U Mgt will still produce a loss just to cram cuts on its hard working employees.

A high load factor does not necessarily mean a
profit is being made. If the average cost to operate
a flight is $400 per customer and US seats are being
sold for $350 per customer, the load factor can be
150% and the company will still lose money. Right
now, the market is dictating average fares in the
$360 range, and US is at $400. That means costs
need to be lowered to meet the market demand.

All of this is the workers fault. LOL
Get a life.

Costs need to be lowered including wasted money or prices need to rise. Don't give us the market garbage it is a two way street.

Question? Load factors are at their highest. Does this take into account that less planes are flying than 2,3 years ago?

I mean..... it looks great when the planes are flying so full, but US also has less flights now too.

Anybody, explain? Thanks!

Funny, I didn't see the word "worker" in his post, nor did I see any synonym for "worker." I didn't even see a euphanism for "worker." Perhaps you're seeing things?

Do you disagree that (unit) costs need to be reduced in order for US to be profitable?

If US cannot make a profit at 83%, then the gig is probably up. I hope that US comes out and and makes a profit in the 2nd QTR and a goff profit at that. 83% is a tremendous percentage, meaning that there has to be a good number of seats sold in the full fare buckets. Good Luck to all at US. Just my thoughts......

One word: Fuel. At least US was somewhat hedged, but fuel probably killed any 2Q profits.

the bean counters and accountants will make SURE U doesnt show a "profit" for a long time. Last quarter would have been almost 100 million profit, cept for the 250 mil pay back to the govt loan guarantee. That was paid back early so we showed over a 100 mil loss.

This is a fallacy. Paying back a loan early does not affect the profit/loss. It merely rearranges some of the assets and liabilities. Basic accounting.
