I heard that the company may ask for 20% plus 5 years senority. Now I don't how true it is but I'm sure somebody here can find out my source is good but again second hand info can get messy.

I don't know about any of you but I could not survive on 16 dollars an hour maybe less depending where you are on the senority issue.....

WOW

I guess it means give back 5 years for pay....not sure

Well if you couldn't survive on $16, Imagine what the Expressed gang is living like.
All of the Mainline Express making $13 would jump for joy if the CWA and IAM would have got them that much.
If this is true, lets hope they leave the Expressed folks out of this one....20% off $13, and Mickey Dee's is an upgrade of employment. I would assume they want to subtract 5 years off your DOH for pay purposes on top of the %20. Are they boys at the top going to give %20????
If you went from Mainline to Mainline Express, you were taken back 20 years in pay if you were topped out.

I don't know if what you heard was true or not but, if in fact it is true, there is going to be a major uprising in res. Things have been quite a bit calmer in res. over the last month than previous months, since the rumors of more pay cuts were started before the end of last year. Well, after the article in the Pittsbugh Tribune review yesterday, the fury is quickly spreading once again. Our group, reservations, are basically considered nobodies. Anytime US work groups are mentioned in the news, newspapers or when Dave is trying to "woo" a group over to his side, we are never mentioned. NEVER! Well, in the Trib. article Dave finally found it fit to mention our work group and single us out with his statement that "US agents make $21.00 an hour and Jetblue agents make $9.00 an hour" etc., insinuating that our group was the problem here and that we are basically worthless. At least that was how we in res. interpreted it. Now the anger has been stirred once again. We in res. work very hard under very stringent work rules and put up with the pettiness of management and the abuse of passengers day in and day out. Most have put many years in with this company and are true professionals, not fresh in the business and wet behind the ears as are Jetblue agents. We have been through it all and are worth every penny that we make! I think Dave is going to be quite surprised by our response this time for more consessions. The consensus on the floor is "not a penny more"! Even agents (including many senior) who were quite willing to give the last two times, are in total agreement with "no more". Enough is enough. No matter how much we give, it will never be enough. Res. can not afford to give more. Believe me there are many many here that have been driven to the point of "let them shut the lights out, no more!". Dave is quickly turning everyone against him and the survival of this company. The campaign has started. VOTE NO!!!! WE WILL ALL SURVIVE NO MATTER WHAT! Let the games begin!

If that is true, and who is to doubt at this point, they can stick it you know where.
THE CONCESSION STAND MUST STAY CLOSED

I don't think, in the context of his whole speech, he was insinuating that at all, given that he was discussing the entire industry and the changes it's been going through. But it is understandable that the group referenced would get those impressions you describe.

It's not what you want to hear, but the harsh reality is in black and white. If other players in the same industry can pay $9 an hour, then why shouldn't the rest work towards that? $9/hour is pitiful, don't get me wrong, but if people are lining up to work for Jet Blue, then it must be acceptable for some people. What if....they posed a 20% reduction for $21, but set you up to work at home like Jet Blue? Would that help? No commuting, being home with family, etc.

Sadly (for US and the economy), it's probably only a matter of time before USAirways res. agents will be sitting next to Indian colleagues in Bangalore (like Delta).

It's worth noting dave didn't exactly make an apples and apples comparison.

1. Entry level rates for agents at U is $8 and change - not all that different from JB, yes? And,

2. How many 20+year agents does JB have? None. And,

3. How many 3 year agents does U have in rez? Few.

4. I'll bet when JB actually has 20 years agents, they won't be making $9, either.

Thoughts?

My take on all of this is that for DAVE to say that the people lining up for Blue’s jobs means that this knuckle head has no clue of what he has for a employee group which in it self is sad. These people trying to get jobs at Blue can’t get jobs any where else look around if you go to a real estate office its full of tech guys who can’t get jobs any where else so the young professional takes what he can get he still lives at home and can afford 9.00 an hour.

DAVE WE HAVE FAMILIES HOMES BILLS TO PAY WE ARE NOT 19 YEARS OLD LIVING AT HOME AND FOR YOU TO COMPARE US THESE PEOPLE LINING UP FOR BLUE YOU SHOULD HAVE NEVER GOTTEN A DEGREE IN BUSINESS BECAUSE YOU ARE TO NARROW MINDED AND HAVE NO BUSINESS RUNNING ANY COMPANY.

For comparison purposes, NW ran an ad in today's Baltimore Sun for res agents starting at $11.72 per hour plus shift differential and multilingual bonus.

Dave was "insinuating" everything he said. Come on, get real, you don't think he knew what he was saying.?? Why in the world would he single out Res. people if not for his own agenda . He knew EXACTLT what he was saying. I am not in Res, but I am closes to the next cut I'm sure, and I agree with Bobcat. Vote No. WE WILL SURVIVE.

People, it is just a rumor, the CWA and the company are not in discussions and the CWA refused to sign the standard confidentiality agreement because they wanted to inform their membership.

Another case of people overreacting to a bad rumor.

PLEASE DAVE DON'T COMPARE A USAIRWAYS RES/ATO PROFESSIONAL TO JETBLUE EMPLOYEE.
DID YOU KNOW THAT YOUR 20YEAR+ PROFESSIONALS REBOOK 100'S OF PASSENAGERS EVERYDAY DUE TO MAINT/WEATHER/ATC TO KEEP THEM FLYING AGAIN AND AGAIN WITH US!
DAVE DO YOU BOTHER CHECKING WHEN THIS HAPPENS TO OUR CUSTOMERS, WHO SWINGS INTO ACTION BUT YOUR GREAT RES AND ATO STAFF WHO REBOOKS AND REISSUE'S OUR CUSTOMERS TKT'S DOES A JETBLUE AGT HAVE THE KNOWLEDGE TO REISSUE AN INTERNATIONAL TKT TO LONDON/PARIS OR ROME THE ANSWER IS NO!
DOES A JETBLUE AGT HAVE THE ABILITY TO REBOOK OR JOB KNOWLEDGE TO REISSUE A TKT TO AA/DL/NW OR UA, WHEN USAIRWAYS CANT GET THEM THERE IN A TIMELY MATTER THE ANSWER IN NO...
AND GUESS WHAT WHEN THAT HAPPENS THE CUSTOMER USUALLY TURNS TO US AND SAYS "THANK YOUR SO MUCH FOR YOUR HELP"

SO PLEASE,...... JOB KNOWLEDGE MUST ACCOUNT FOR SOMETHING !
