heard the peidmont plane was painted already

Sounds like they could use the expertise of Bay 3 in CLT to get the check done instead of them being parked not earning revenue.

So AC got the contract for the heavy 330 maintance and now they are taking their grand old time getting it done. Doesn't sound very reliable to me.

Well I know when we did the A330s in-house there was a lot of corrosion problems once you opened them up.

is corrosion normal for a newer plane? the A330 in the fleet cant be much than what 5 to 8 yrs old?

It is a problem with Airbus products in general, same problems with the baby buses and corrosion under the fwd lavs.

Yes the 767s were from PI and Colodny cancelled the last three on order and realized they were money makers and reordered the three planes but it cost $10 million more per plane.
Another bright move by Uncle Ed. This can only be topped by his purchase of the F-100 fleet. I had heard that it was placed just to spite Boeing for not giving him a good deal on some 757's. After Boeing wouldn't give hime a "Good Deal", they worked one with EA that got him Ticked-off. I had been told this by a person who was somewhat involved in A/C purchasing at that time. He told me that his group advised Ed NOT to buy the F-100's and he said "Order 50 of them"...Go figure, then he bails out a short while later.

I would'nt be too concerned about the corrosion problem on the Airbuses. I know a lot of [Talented?] individuals that can fix problems such as Corrosion with an ink pen and a "Stop Sign" stamp... ;)

Please tell me they painted the Star Alliance logo on instead of using a decal! I'm so tired of seeing them worn off, ripped off, peeling off, etc.

problem due to lack of clading over the aluminum produced in europe....stateside its 1100 aluminum(pure) with a protective alloy clad surface...keeps the 1100 from corroding.... ;)

One of our Dash 8-300 aircraft is in Maine right now going through a heavy check. It should be back on line at the beginning of Janruary, if not by the end of the year. It will have the new colors upon its' return, whether or not it's retro Piedmont colors we won't know until then.

Drove HDA to telford for the heavy check. No paint was planned when we dropped it off and at that time most paint track we saw had no 200/300s on the list whatsoever. But who knows it all can change in a matter of hours.

Here's the schedule:

The painting of seven B767s and three B757s in the new US Airways Livery with a completion timeframe of November 1, 2005, through January 19, 2006. The initial B767, tail 656 has been painted. Delivery of the initial B757 is scheduled for December 4, 2005.

i hope they remember to put the heritage logo on the right side of the 2L door rather than the 1L door. being since we use the 2L door for boarding. on the 757 that is.
