United usually provides widebody jets of 763, 772, 744 for New York Giants away games, and a 763 for the playoffs. Will they get a 772 or 744 to Phoenix, Arizona for Super Bowl XLII trip?

Perhaps US can provide an A330?
Seriously, who decides who gets to transport the teams?

I remember when working in TPA for US back in 1990 when the G-Men beat the 49ers, they flew directly from SFO-TPA that night, as there was no week off that year between the playoffs and super bowl.

As luck would have it I am a big Giant fan, and they flew on a UA DC-10 and UA did not have air stairs that could deplane them.

They came over to US in the middle of the night to borrow our air stairs, I got to meet the the G-Men as they came off the plane and got their autographs.

The Bills flew on a Pan Am 747 which was hand loaded, I was shocked, no containers.

G-Men always fly UA.

That's when Roger Craig fumbled with the game in hand giving the NYG good field position. All SF had to do was to get a first down and run out the clock. But that is football. Usually there are a few charters for the teams involved. 1 for the team, 1 for the families and one for the employees. Back in 1989 in Miami the game between SF and Cincy, tix sold for $200, I hate to know the going price today. Heck, the first several Super Bowls never sold out. Those were the days.

Yep and LT came up with the ball.

When Panthers were in the super bowl in IAH a few years ago, the team took a 767 and the families flew on a 757 and an A321.

A number of years ago, I flew the Broncos to the Super Bowl in New Orleans. We changed our call sign and flew down there as "Bronco 1".

Later I learned we had a bunch of donkeys on board instead of a bunch of broncos.

hey 700, congrats on your giants making it to the superbowl. i am not a real big football fan more of a baseball fan. but being from the bronx i guess i am gonna have to root for the giants.

Born in Brooklyn here and raised on Long Island, lifelong Giant Fan.

I was born here in BOS, but ALWAYS routed for the "Jints"
Not so long ago(befoe Pats) EVERYONE was a "jints" fan. Even SOME have reamained so.

I think ELI's going to get REAL GOOD. He seems to be very serious.

It usually depends on which airline the team uses for its pre-season and regular season charters. Not always, but that's usually how it works. And the Giants have used United for several years.

From what I remember when the Eagles were in it a few years ago, the NFL pays for 3 W/B's on the companies that each team used during the season.
