Furloughed Flight Attendants

Good morning, all....

Just curious if anyone would have the actual number of flight attendants STILL waiting to be called back on property? With the last "recall" letter that claims that you need to respond or consider it "separation from the company", I was just curious about the number still out there, and how many flight attendants that were "lost" with that last letter. I am one of them......still waiting....

Thanks for all you do and support. :)

LOL....Did you try to call L.A. at the union office? sorry couldn't resist. I'm actually curious myself. Whats up with the recall that was to happen later this year? Is that still on? I don't think the company knows what it wants to do to be honest. Look forward to having you back soon. God knows there are those that are here that piss and moan about everything under the sun while working. I say, "the last vflr was undersubscribed".

I have not heard how many FAs were removed from the list for not responding to the last letter. Also, I have not heard anything about the recall that was to happen at the end of the year.

We did get our notification to sign up for training for the 190 in PHL; otherwise, all is silent.

The recall for December is not going to happen.

I also do not believe anyone was removed from the seniority list.

Go to the hub/Inflight/forms and look at the list. It still has about 9,000 people on it.

Yes, I went to the HUB after I started this thread, silly me, should have went there first....yes, its VERY quiet. Two (2) possibilities:

"no news is good news"...or

"calm BEFORE the storm"

I know of a few people who were removed because they did not respond.

Really??? Are you positive???

Would the union allow this?

Yes there are a few from my class that are no longer
showing on the senority list. I actually called one of them and asked if they turned the letter back in and he had not.

Well, that sucks if you screwed something up!!!!

I hope those that didn't return them didn't plan on coming back anyway.

Didn't you post in July that there would be recalls for December, something to the effect of 150, as did the company state 80 recalls for August, and 200 in December. So now it's early September and there are no recalls for December? What causes this continuous flip-flop? Attrition must be fairly consistent in the present environment, isn't it? And new aircraft (the 190's), that plan has to be firm since the cost must be accounted for, correct? And the sale of aircraft or leases given up? I would think that also would have to be a known for the next 1 -5 years. So what other factors are there? I have to be missing something here. I would love to understand why in the past 6 months, the recall plans went from 650 to 200,(phase 1) then, (phase 2) 280 to 150 to 0. And also why you thought just last month there would be 150 recalls for December? I already know the answer is "the attrition isn't what we expected". But hasn't attrition always been a factor in hiring and furloughing? What is the present attrition rate, anyway? Why in March would AFA report 650 recalls (first news out)? Some of us on furlough take the news to heart, only to be disappointed one more time. I am very happy for the 200 that did get a recall. I look forward to the day, if it will ever be, that there is no furlough list. When do you think that will be?

Yes, I did. That is because that was the "projection" at the time.

The explaination that was given to me is that the "expected" attrition rate is not as high as originally thought.

I spoke to Ron Cole on a flight and he told me that the recall is not going to happen. No rumor....right from his mouth.

Twicebaked, Thanks for your reply. I know your info is reliable, but my point is, Ron Cole and/or Inflight said only a month ago, 150 recalls were likely, but today 0 recalls likely. Wonder what tomorrow will bring?

In the airline industry....one never knows. Many things were said on that flight and if I had to guess.....we should have another recall after the holidays sometime.

Now, don't take that to heart. It is just that the things that I talked about with Ron Cole, it would seem near to impossible to go much longer without a recall. ;)

Hang in there!!! You will be back sooner than you know

Thanks for replying, and especially your optimism. I'm hoping this furlough is shorter than my previous one as that was 3 years; I am 5 months and counting on my 2nd furlough. In the airline industry....one never knows.
