Explain What All Of This Means....

These are interesting times (not good times). I can see 2 very different options here, US disappears or Bronner makes a mint for the fine pensioners of Alambama.

I have nothing against the hard working teachers, police, firemen etc of AL, I just have NO interest in making their pension fund MORE money while the fine employees of UAIR are forced to beg for the leftovers.

Bronner is a smart and shrewd businessman. Too bad he is a total ass as well!
This is what Bronner should have done. He should have INCLUDED all of the Airways employees in the AL pension fund.Had this happened, I believe that we would step up to the plate again to fix this Airline. NO ONE I know is willing to enrich a very select few, and a pension fund in AL while everything we have worked for is going up in smoke. I am prepared. I don't need his pension fund. The point is that he is enriching HIS fund while he helps destroy the Airways pension funds. Where are the ethics is rewarding one pension while destroying another?

As a customer service professional, I wish I would have met people like Piney and Art. I thank them for their patronage and support. They cannot know however, what we have been through for many, many years. Airways doesn't deserve their support any longer.

I have worked more than 24 years here because it made economic sense to do so. I will be leaving soon no matter what happens here again, because it makes economic sense to do so. Once the love went both ways between Company and Employees. It cannot happen again until current Management is replaced. The "love" is not returned.

Piedmont and USAir have allowed me to set goals and attain them. I have no debt and burn the deed to the house next month. For this I am blessed and grateful. I also realize that I am the exception. Most of my coworkers don't seem to understand how bad it is about to get here (even if they decide to say yes to cuts now), and are not prepared.

I really hate seeing another industry rip the middle class out of America. It looks really bad to me for all of us within 5 years. No one is saving and preparing for the future. This is because our governing bodies (Federal and State)have decided that past promises made by Companies have NO CONSEQUENCES when ignored and undelivered.

I use "Fatherknowsbest" because of the old TV show, not because I have all the answers to all of these problems here. It's time for me to move on to happier horizons. I sure wish the best for my co-workers and customers. Once it was fun and rewarding. That was a long, long time ago. What 9-11 did to Airways was take the next ten years and compact it into three.

Again, why choose to help the Pension Fund of Alabama? All it means to us is a form of slavery - not enough money to live on and not enough to save for our future! America is in trouble, not just Airways IMHO.

Very well said. I also have no desire to be part of enriching the folks who have not put their blood, sweat and tears into this company. I might consider working for $13,10 to help the company survive in different circumstances, but I refuse to do it for the current management and BOD in CCY. They have no concern or respect for any labor group and they never let us forget it. I will not enrich them at my expense. This company can close the doors forever and we can all move on to better things and a better life. I for one, will not shed one tear over the demise of this company. We all did the best we could, while those in position of power took money by the truck load out the back door time and time again. It never stops.

would it been different if say the old wolf and gangwal had not of wasted the 2 million on a fruitless merger as well as then stealing the 41 mill and left with the golden parachutes? i guse i'm try to ask if usair would be in the position that their in now.

If Bronner had only decieded to share the wealth, what a completly different story this would be!

I think the bottom line all boils down to one thing with Dr. Bonner. GREED, and with the folks running the company...STUPIDITY.

Before you go further with such a nice sounding concept, realize that the RSA probably has strict guidelines established by the State of Alabama as to who may participate in the RSA...

Not saying that is the case, but before you go down that road it might be wise to check and see. Otherwise it just inflames already heated emotions on here.

You guys do realize that if it weren't for Bronner that US Airways might have liquidated by now?

He's no angel, but then again, it's not his job to be so.

Blame the morons who got you into this mess - not the ones who are working to get you out of it. Bronner makes a hell of a lot more money if US Airways succeeds and thrives than if it liquidates.

You are right about that, Dawg....Boner makes millions and so does Lakefield, Crellin, Glass and the rest of the carpetbaggers in CCY. We get food stamps and a free trip to personal Bankruptcy. Either way, we are the one's getting the screw.

Did you forget Bronner won control of US in a bidding war against the Texas Pacific Group controlled by airline turnaround specialist David Bonderman?

Bonderman was succesful in turning around HP and CO.

The only reason Bronner stepped in is because he was gonna take a bath on 737 leases.

The government uses taxation to redistribute wealth. Corporations use concessions and outsourcing to redistribute wealth. Either way, no real wealth is being created, only redistributed.

Bronner is due no more credit than the guy who bellies up to the slot machine with a cup of quarters. He feeds it with the hope that there are just enough quarters in his cup to produce a jackpot on his machine. But he didn't create the jackpot; the risk and loss of others before him did. He was just lucky enough to be there when it paid out.

Or didn't.

Piney,
I really shouldn't have to define share the wealth. Dr Bronner wants to take $20,000 a year (that includes pay and benefits) out of my wallet. Then he wants to give me a chance at $2500 profit sharing. You do the math.

He runs a pension fund and he doesn't want anyone at Airways to have a retirement. Can you not SMELL the irony?

Herb at SW knows that happy employees make happy customers. Herb always said take care of the employees and profits take care of themselves. US Airways will have a hell of a time being successful under Bronner. He wants ALL the profits for RSA and himself.

What do you not understand? Give me the name of a successful Company where the Management is UNIVERSALY hated by the employees!
