Picture this: a fresh nutritious meal including bountiful salad selections and
great American wines, a comfortable place to sleep with upgraded pillows and
blankets, pleasantly surprising amenities or sweet and savory classic American
brunch, a high tech entertainment system, comfortable work space, all
punctuated by efficient friendly attentive service.

I could be describing a Four Star hotel and restaurant, but I am not, all of
these adjectives describe our redesigned Envoy service. It is part of the
Company's commitment to build a better product and reclaim our pride.

You will get a chance to see it all unfold in the new Envoy service training
coming in January 2008. Watch for more details and be sure to sign up early
to find out what all the fuss is about.

Well let's see, bountiful salad? Translation = salads are cheaper than solid food. So what will this new "American fare" be? Shall I venture to think corn dogs on a stick, Four Points Apple pie, hamburgers and hot dogs? Ya know, I'm all for an upgrade but considering the track record this team has I can't really be all that optimistic about what this is going to entail. We'll come around with our linen lined "silver" tray with condiment packets. Maybe we can change the linens up in Envoy to red and white checkered to go along with the American fare and serve the food in a paper lined basket. Oh I'm gagging already just thinking about. Whaaaaaah whaaaaaah I'm crying...

I will give them credit for acknowledging the current product is total crap. What scares me is "American Experience". How will that go over in Europe? And from their track record I hope this is not the arrival service. TravelPro you crack me up...Corndogs on a stick. Will we be trained to properly operate the mustard pump on the cart was we go through the Envoy cabin? Here is our arrival snack with our new linens.

oh you nailed it. "Heeeeey Yall, did ya all know there's a picnic goin' on up en Envoy"? Cooooome n' get it! ! ! !

Reclaim our pride? OUR pride? My pride is just fine, thanks.

Company pride? A different story, and that is mgmt's responsibility, not the front line employees.

I'm picturing it, and I'm prematurely embarrassed. I just know they are going to f- it up. Tempe has no class whatsoever, Ed and Peg Bundy could create a more sophisticated experience. American food, good lord... It only mentions brunch... are we not serving dinner or breakfast anymore? You have to ask these things with this trailer crowd.

I have to log into Catcrew now and see who wrote that dreadful email... Someone who thinks the Sizzler is four star.

"See what all the fuss is about!" What fuss? I'm sure executives are running around in a tizzy in corporate offices in Dallas, Chicago, Atlanta, and London in fear of what the America West premium international product will be.

Isn't THAT the truth. Can we say dumbed down service served in a cabin of blue covered in heat waves? Did the person who wrote this cbs pass it over to Susie or John in the next cubicle and ask what they thought? Maybe they'd have asked what happened to breakfast, lunch and dinner. So it's brunch all around as per this cbs. What's all the fuss? I concur with EMBFA on that one. Who the hell is trying to bite off of US's style? Give me a break. People of other airlines would RUN in disgust. Maybe we could wear red, white and yellow hats with propellers like those poor unfortunate food court people in the mall that served those hot dogs on a stick. This has disaster and travesty written ALL over it. Now Debbie Downer ain't one to complain mmmmkaaaay but I'm sayin' GHETTO HUN!

Breaking news: Continental executives seen at New Jersey IHOP. They were scanning the menu in a rush to beat fierce competitor US Airways' upcoming, industry shaking "American brunch with big pillows service."

Sources also say Star Alliance partners United Airlines and Singapore Airlines are mulling over the possibility of re-doing recent upgrades to incorporate a desert/drought theme.

"Now more than ever, the transatlantic market is brutally competitive," says UAL CEO Glen Tilton. "We simply must stop offering fully lie flat suites and menus prepared by world-renowned chefs featuring choice of four entrees including local cuisine. US Airways has it's finger on the pulse, and early 90's seats and Happy Meals is where it's at."

My guess is on the A330 this means they are going to deactivate the current IFE system in Envoy and go to the portable system up front, keeping the existing IFE system for coach only. I hardly think they're going to go to the expense of putting a whole new IFE system in both cabins of an A330. Now what does comfortable work space mean? New Envoy seats for the A330? They need them. And I couldn't help including that last point in my quote. I'm still laughing and dissapointed no one else has commented...Beachboy? Travel? Emb?

One has to seriously wonder where this is going. How long do we think Usairways will remain competitive on the transatlantic front against Delta, United, American, Continental thrown in with the foreign carriers. Oh wait now you add in Maxjet, Zoom, Eos and all those other airlines catering to the business traveler. Yeah, great job US. You and your int'l experience you bring from Tempe know EXACTLY what the consumer wants. You'll ALL be looking for a new job soon enough. Talk about taking steps back. How far to the bottom do we wanna go? I guess the game plan is to count on the first timer of the US "American flavor" experience. NOBODY would come again considering you can fly anyone else and have a better inflight experience for relatively the same price.

That is a lot to wonder about - "how long do we think US will remain competitive" - that statement assumes they are competitive now - which I would say is a pipe dream. Anyone that pays for a premium ticket on US to Europe is just plain crazy when any other carrier out there provides a superior product for the same money.

After going back and reading my post I realized what I said. I don't think that US Envoy service is REMOTELY competitive with what others are offering to the business/first class customer. AT ALL. Anyone that thinks our Envoy service is nice or on par should really experience another airlines first/business product. You'd be VERY surprised at how low our service truly is. Not to be rude but when I hear of a passenger paying FULL fare to fly Envoy I think of the saying, "There truly is a sucker born every minute". I'd NEVER pay it. As bad as our service is you can bet you'll work a trip or two a month with someone running the show who will "dumb the service down" even more. Like our one popular flight attendant who flies CSD and says in briefings, "NO CARTS". Who does she think she is? Ohhhhh I'm strictly domestic anymore. You can have that crap. I DID the division and it's NO COMPARISON today. Not by a long shot.

I may be one of the most pessimistic customers when it comes to viewing this airline in a positive light recently. This is why I've achieved mid tier status on both AA and UA and completely given up on US.

But I'm also going to keep an open mind. Lest we forget that CO was a real crap airline once. Their premium product also sucked. Ditto for Delta. The recent enhancements and improvements on DL were only over the last few years.

Can you at least *try* to be a *little* bit enthusiastic? The 767 upgrades are exactly on par with AA, DL and CO premium TA service (none of whom have fully lie-flat seats in J either). The difference will be the amenities, meals and SERVICE. Of course, they also have a good domestic premium service, so hopefully Tempe has some coordinated efforts planned to make a MCI-PHL-LGW passenger feel comfortable on all his/her legs.
