End of April Class II Maintenance Closures

Rumor has it that RENO will no longer be class II maintenance May 1st, any other closures to speak of?

Tulsa base management and union leaders reporting Tulsa based over manned by 600-1000 but they do not know what to do about it....

Lot of rumors about lay-offs in Tulsa and openings at MCI in hopes Tulsa workers will not excercise options to pack up and move. This will remove headcount without violating the wealth of protection agreements.

Seems the bad news is still ahead of us to this point.

"AT LEAST YOU STILL HAVE A JOB BROTHER"

==========================================================

Informer,

Think any of the TUL "good ol' boys' would pack up their old lady and the kids, and head to JFK/LGA/EWR(if they could "hold it") (Jesus, talk about CULTURE shock)

NH/BB's

ps,
If they did, at least they'd get to eat REAL Pizza, and
"eye" talian food :p

NH/BB's, how are you?

Everyone should keep in mind that AMR's current PLI (Performance Leadership Initiative) that is going to be presented in the coming weeks) will hold the answers to where AA is heading.

PLI is an Arpey program which utilizes employees from all departments, union, non-union and management. They have been examining how AMR compares to the rest of the industry.

If the rest of the industry does not staff smaller, out- stations, well, guess what?

This is strange!

According to every propaganda newsletter put out, AA is the only carrier still doing overhaul maintenance, yet every department is reviewed by PLI to compare to the rest of the industry.

How do you have the only in-house overhaul maintenance in the industry and still find data to compare to the rest of the industry? Seems to me that if you are leading the industry in the in-house overhaul maintenance then there is no other to compare with.

I must be missing something.

AA did not take the chapter 11 path, so now we compare our cost, our productivity, our headcount, against those that went through or are still going through chapter 11? Hmmm, that sounds fair.

Strange days Indeed------As John Lennon sang!

This falls under the category of "I'll believe it when I see it". Over the past couple years there have been so many rumors that it's hard to keep track of them all. Some come true but a lot do not. Example, a couple years ago there was a rumor that they were going to open FLL as a class 2. Guess what, two years latter and it still has'nt happened.

<_< It's really interesting the contrast as to what's going on at Tulsa, verses MCI! Tulsa too many "protected" workers, MCI not enough "unprotected"!---- Latest "Bad" news from MCI! The numbers on the Saabs has just gone from one line of twenty five aircraft,to ninty, with two lines! And to cover these aircraft, aa is moving three of our layovers out of MCI, freeing up twenty two line people. They will be moved to the hanger to help cover the additional Saabs! Apparently I was wrong on the ALCOA contract, the deal is still on, but it will be set back a few months. Other things in the works for us, and Tulsa. So I don't think the company wants to piss off the troops quit yet!

That is good news about the Saabs. I don't know why more of Eagle's component overhaul isn't given to AA to do. I think it may be headed in that direction but not quick enough.

Last B check at Reno is April 3rd. Will cease MX operations April 7th.
<_< Sorry to hear about the closure! Trust me! I know what your going through! I've been there myself with TWA! Things will work themselfs out! Believe me there is life after aa!!!! ;)

Was RNO a historical AA location or was it picked up when AA purchased RenoAir? Doesn't seem like RNO is an important part of AA's network.

It was picked up with the Reno Air purchase and is most likely the last remaining thing from that purchase.

I'd be lying if I said I did'nt miss it, (to a "certain" extent)

Everytime I fly into JFK, and take the JET TRAIN To Jamaica station(for Manhatten) I have to "pinch myself" to prove I'm not in a WONDERFUL dream, as the "JT" "zooms" 50+ mph over the (still) JAMMED Van Wyck Expressway

Hey, is the old beer joint(the "OWL") still there ??

(I wonder how many guys drank their LAST beer "EVER", after they entered that joint)

Keep up the "campaign"............Work to Rule !!!
