Emb170

Folks, I'm sure you all know U has not even begun to reap the benefits of bringing this new aircraft into the fleet......Seems to me management is dragging their feet on getting the 170 into the air...Could it be they are more concerned on getting into Labor's pocket AGAIN?, knowing full well once they have these aircraft [along with the concessions they ALREADY have] in the air, their "doom & gloom" drivel will go by the wayside...?? I believe this aircraft and [all the concessions that go along with it] will make this airline VERY competitive without the need of any MORE concessions.
I don't think they are dragging their feet. This thing just got it's FAA certificate a few weeks ago, and they seem to be moving ahead pretty quickly now that they have FAA certification. Once the proving runs are done, it will be added to the operationg specs.

Things are behind the original schedule, but no one can really blame US here. One of the big problems with the airlines is they are "quasi-deregulated". They deregulated routes and fares, but you need the FAA's blessing to take a leak.

Cause they dont use mainline mechanics, thats why
Not true, Six (6) mainline mechanics were trained Tuesday and Wednesday hands on, on the EMB-170.
Not quite sure what station you were talking about where the mainline mechanics were trained on the 170's? You may have mistaken some ex mainline mechanics who went over to MA. There are several who have been on layoff for over a year that went to MA. I believe they have about 20 mechanics. I know of no jets for jobs program such as the pilots have. Its a shame money we gave up to save the company went for purchase of A/C we do not work!! Starting pay for MA mechanics is $12hr with few benifits. I never did find out what happened with the IAM representing the MA mechanics......

The EMB170 is a very sharp looking plane... The express titles just don't fit, it definately looks like a mainline aircraft.

I also saw the 170 yesterday..and it is exactly the same height as the 737...if you put them side by side you would be in shock...the inside is like a small airbus...without f/c...I just do not like the express on the outside because it does not look like an express a/c. And they will be taking off on april 4th as planned. I beleive..and this is my personal opinion, that this MAA will save us. It will be able to compete with the LCC's of other airlines....again..my opinion.

And what about all of those jobs being outsourced to Brazil? As a matter of fact, how about all of those jobs outsourced to Hamburg and Tolouse in years past? <_<
