Emb 170's In The Air

Change has a considerable psychological impact on the human mind. To the fearful it is threatening because it means that things may get worse. To the hopeful it is encouraging because things may get better. To the confident it is inspiring because the challenge exists to make things better.

Just what was the deal with CLT and speared fruit? They must have spent weeks on it in training at Piedmont!

I think it was just that Southern Hospitality Thang. ;)

Okay... I soo have missed this conversation.... LET me in on it !!!!!!!!!!!

The International Joke(Crazy 8).... How do you get an International F/A into the Cock Pit... Butter the Door !!!!!!!!!

As for KT... Your comment about US hiring older People... True..But remember most of them probably went back home to their Husbands/Wifes and Previous Careers !!! Then there's ME.... No one Ever Thinks Im the Age I am... Age is Just a number... Being Old depends on how you Accept Age !!!!!

As for the Southern Hospitality... YEAH RIGHT .... A couple of years ago I actually had a CLT F/A Call me at my Gate to #### me out for not Icing down the Liquor in 1st Class...Yeah it was 0900 AM and I Had NO PAX !!! PLZZZZZZ

As for the "Love your Hair"... The one I heard was "Love your Hair ______ You're Husband Last Night".....

Okay... I'll Behave Now !!!!!!!!!!

 Soooo, it appears from the context of the responses in this thread that Johnny "O" was correct. I guess there really is a large pool of people who will fly for chicken feed.

Colby>>>>Just how old are you??? ;) I agree age these days is a state of mind. Most days I feel younger than I really am and Most think I look alot younger.

I have heard the one about the husband also.

As far as galley's and ice and all of that, things are slipping quite a bit. You really have to watch your catering supplies anymore. I needed liquor kits recently and was in CLT and was told they didn't have any white sealed liquor kits!!!!!! Catering tried to make shift one out of red sealed kits on the truck. Ice is another thing, they are really getting skimpy. Just the other day, only had 2 bags in coach out of CLT to PIT. Liquor kits are not being sealed correctly, it is nothing to come on and have beer and wine in the black buckets still open and no kits to even put them in.
Also, coffee pots are many, many times left with coffee in them and used coffee filters too. It is disgusting. I can't tell you haow many times I have tried to refurbish F/C meals. We can't "spear our fruit" anymore, our little white stir sticks are gone....I really miss them too....they were great for opening up ice bags. Also, many F/A's are red sealling kits when they should, especially when we are in a HUB.

There is a line from "Chicago", Matron Mama says to Velma Kelly..."Aw, Velma, things ain't what they used to be". Velma replies, "They sure ain't Mama, they sure ain't." Then they sing this duet (which was left out of the Movie)

...Whatever happend to Fair Dealing and Pure Ethics and Nice Manners?
...Why is it everyone now is a pain in the A###?
...What ever happened to Class?

...Whatever Happened to, "Please, May I?" and, "Yes, Thank You"? and, "How Charming"?
...Now, every Son of a B..ch is a snake in the grass.
...Whatever happened to Class?

...Ah, there ain't no gentlemen to open up the doors.
...Their ain't no ladies now, there's only pigs and whores
...And even kids'd knock ya down so's they can pass
...Nobody's got No Class.

...Whatever happened to old values?
...And fine morals?
...And good Breeding?
...Now, No one even says, "OOPS", when they're passing their Gas!
...Whatever happened to Class?

...CLASS...Ah, there ain't no gentlemen that's fit for any use
...And any girl'd touch your privates for a Deuce
....And even kids'll kick your shins and give you sass
...Nobody's got no Class!

...All you get today is Rape and Theft,
...Jesus Christ, Aint' there no Decency Left?
...Nobody's Got No Class.
...Everybody you Watch
...'S got his Brains in his Crotch
...Holy Crap....Holy Crap
...What a Shame....What a Shame.....
...What Became of Class???????

Cute Song and Fun to Sing. :D

Hey now! I'm known for my long posts too! ;)

autofixer- If you follow my posts you'll know that I completely agree with you... in fact I've been told that I need to "get over it" and get off my soapbox.

Now that said, will I go to Mid? Yes. My current situation allows me to do so. Will many others? Yes. Do we like what has happened? No. But at least this time the chicken feed jobs are being reclaimed by thier righful owners, US Airways employees. Again, we didn't sign off on this, our senior, active folks did, and did it to try and get some jobs back on the property. We are not scabs or contracted employees, we are the people who took the ultimate pay cut- our jobs- for the company.

The SJ/RJ situation is out of hand and US is pressing its limits. All labor groups need to work on change and protecting and creating livable wage jobs and will work to do so. Everyone needs to work to do so- sitting at home collecting welfare and turning down a U job (bad as it is) and giving it to someone else isnt the answer. Getting up, brushing yourself off, continuing your plan B while returning to work to reclaim your job and fight to make it better is. We are all working towards the same goal. If we dont go and someone off the street does, they dont have any interest in mainline and would probably attempt to lower the bar more like our affiliates do.

I really hope the MAA employees will not be mistreated or frowned upon, your post seemed a little insulting (I could be reading it wrong). We'll all be happy to return to mainline, bad as it may be, and let others look for a similar-paying airline job that fits thier lifestyle- not easy! <_<

I will make a whole $2 less than I started at mainline, so I guess thats chicken scaps? Plus I'd rather at least be senior and flying at mda which is growing than junior, not flying and about to laid off at mainline.

My thoughts exactly, if you dont want us to go to Mda then quit and we'll come back. I miss Aruba. <_<

Things now may be slipping..Im talking back when things were OKAY....

Actually it was funny we came in at one gate...then had to swtich planes..went across to next gate...Agent called down,we started Boarding...then the Jetway Phone rang again I answered it..started to get yelled at about the Ice... I said that we were boarding didn't have time for her....She ACTUALLY came over to my gate and in the mess of people boarding there she was Miss CLT F/A calling me out to ask me Why I Didn't Ice down the Liquor...I started laughing and said "Honestly I thought about it but You guys never do it for ME!!!" Then, I Sicked on my "B" that was a Total PAIN on the entire trip...YEP she didn't Ice down anything EITHER !!!

As for the Song.... BRAVO, BRAVO , BRAVO

xoxo, Im with you as for the PAY..... I would be making A LOT Less at some of the other Carriers Express Companies AND have to start at the Bottom.... Hey, I'll give up the 2.00/hour !!!!!

Light, Guess we'll just have to hold our heads up HIGH...That is if we can lift them after the OVERNIGHTS !!!!!!!!!

Getting back to the original point of this thread, there is an EMB 170 currently sitting at the old TWA terminal at JFK. Don't know why, it has been there all day though. It is not in MAA colors, must be an Embrarer test A/C

Maybe the 170 is there because there isn't an actual 190 for jetBlue to get its hands on and play with.

 Well, to sum it all up, "THIS IS NOT YOUR DADDY'S R.J.!"
Good evening....as manager of tech pubs for midatlantic, it was my distinct privilege to have gone to Hangar 7 this evening for a cake cutting and viewing of our new arrivals. Almost the entire midatlantic staff was there to view ..... for some of us... the culmination of almost 18 months of effort....especially the last 5-7 days worth.....16-18 hour workdays.

I'm not a pilot or flight attendant but I can appreciate fine craftsmanship and sleek, classic lines when I see them. My wife and I (yup wives and significant others were allowed in the hangar escorted) appreciated the chance to sit down in the single-class cabin, with the *new car* smell and a fine interior.

With galleys and lavs forward and aft along with very spacious seating, good sized overhead compartments....and guess what?....no stooping when entering the aircraft....this is definetly not your daddy's r.j.....

President Siegel and Vice President Bruce Ashby were among the throng of folks gathered in Hangar 7.....I know not of labor contracts, management disputes, etc....but we, as a company gotta do something to save this company....

As for me?.....let's test it, load it, put it on the line, fly it and start making some money because in the end.....that's what it's all about.
