last i heard fleet dont get anymore profit sharing checks but all the other groups do--thanks to rc.

Poor guy. He looked pretty tired. He's probably a really nice guy in real life. I can't imagine how much abuse he takes on a daily basis.

Charging $2 for soda and a buck for coffee seems pretty proactive to me.....right or wrong
Not necessarily if it starts after fuel has gone thru the roof. Not that US was alone in being reactive to the rapid increase.

There is no docket listing at the Maricopa County Superior Court that I can find....
Frankly, a rumor like this should be squashed on this board NOW. Rip him a new a-hole all you want for his management of the company, but it's really going to a lower low for someone to say they heard he's going through a divorce.

Oh, and it won't be on file with the court until it's actually filed. That could be long, long after a marriage, in theory, breaks down.

Frankly, a rumor like this should be squashed on this board NOW.

I was providing factual information that was addressing another poster who did actually post a rumor. I was attempting to quash the rumor since there currently is no factual data to support the statement. OK?

I don't like to hear anything that remotely smacks of censorship here or anyplace else
Starting unsubstantiated malicious rumors does nothing for the posters credibility.

Whether we believe it or not posting an unsubstantiated rumor can be harmful to all of us.

What if someone posted this about me or you. Is that ok?

An extreme example would be someone crying "Fire!" in a theater.
Should a such a "malicious rumor" be allowed due to free speech or should this be censored?

Again, an extreme example, but the point is: is the poster conveying information they believe to be true or are they simply trying to be malicious and hurtful?

Being mean is pretty low, censorship or not. Presumably the Mods are the ultimate censor on these boards but sometimes common sense and good behavior should prevail.

Facts are facts. We know that Doug Parker is a drunkard. That's the label you earn when you've been hit with multiple drunk driving convictions (word is that he has at least three).

We also have seen that some (some might say "many") of USAirways' responses during the last couple of years to high fuel prices and declining margins appear to be completely out in left field. The work of a drunkard, perhaps?

How else do you explain the lunatic attacks on frequent fliers and the few remaining higher-yield customers? How else to explain the cheapening of the service, the continued high costs and industry-trailing unit revenue growth? IMO, sane, sober management wouldn't have made quite as many missteps.

My conclusion? US is run by a drunkard and there's evidence it continues to this day. I pray he gets help.

just for the record Herb Kelleher is a bourbon drinker of legendary proportion and I ask who you'd rather work for?
Talk about a rhetorical question, work for a drunk preppy hedge fund wannabe or an actual business man? Doh?

Poor guy. He looked pretty tired. He's probably a really nice guy in real life. I can't imagine how much abuse he takes on a daily basis.

Balanced against multiple daily goobersmooches the abuse is a small fraction of what the front line gets.

Hard to feel sorry for him.

Hey Everyone,

Morgan from corp comm here. As you know, I read these threads every so often to see what folks are talking about. I came across this thread and while I don't normally comment, this particular one was so personal and potentially unfair to Doug and his family that I thought I should check it out with him. He let me know that this rumor is categorically false.

He and his wife Gwen have been married for 18 years and, to use his words, "have never been happier." He said he can't imagine how such an absurd rumor got started but asked me to please try and set the record straight out of respect for Gwen and their three young children. So consider this rumor cleared and let's get back to it.

You might also consider this feature the Owen Business school at Vanderbilt Univeristy recently ran about Doug.

Thanks.

What a shame that someone from Corp Comm had to ask him if this were true just because someone posted it on this forum. Even if it were true, it was an insult to the family. I am sure everyone on this board has had a rumor slung about them one time in their life, but it sure was not put out on the net...think about how you and your family would feel....
