I can honestly say the people in my department are longing for the day USAirways shuts down. The vast majority are tired of the waiting game and tired of being lied to. How long do you put your life on hold ?
Most are ready to move on to new ventures.
The morale in my department is absolutely terrible. The overriding feeling is the future of USAirways is not good and most have accepted that.

Kudos to the IAM for refusing to open the contract. I only hope they stick to their guns this time. Enough is enough.
I don’t believe in biting the hand that feeds you and I strongly believe that the people that post on this board still go to work everyday and do the best they possibly can regardless of the company's lack of concern towards its assets (it's employees)

That being said I concur with Toto, everyone I work with myself included is tired of their life being put on hold and have had more than enough of the doom and gloom that we hear about on a daily basis. I've said this in the past but most of my fellow coworkers are already working two jobs so that when U finally does pull the plug they have something else going in terms of employment.

I also believe if it wasn’t for the free pretzels 95% of the employees would have quit a long time ago. ;)

And the low carb way of eating is making that benefit worth even less. :p

I concur!

Going to work anymore is like working in an environment where there is a cat walk with bosses patrolling with shotguns.

The work is not hard nor are we pushed but the constant looking over your shoulder and making sure that you are not only on time to the second, but also don't dare miss a day least the grim reaper makes a stop at your door.

Forget about getting a vacation day if you don’t have 30 years seniority.

People are being fired almost daily for frivolous things. Some are getting their jobs back but others are sticking and why they keep the hammer down thinning out the troops.

Working here is not only no longer fun, it's a pure drag, ask any sane man, the entire situation reeks of doom/gloom and failure.

Now before all you self righteous employees and may I add NON EMPLOYEES tell me to quit if I hate it that bad, I am doing just that and don't even care if I am making way less, because I will have security and peace of mind which is not to be found at U.

I can hear it now: Then why not take a pay cut and stick around? Because I believe this airline has run its course and all that more give backs will accomplish is prolong the destiny of a doomed airline.

They didn't do squat about the people who were under Dave, they are still here, this sick puppy doesn't have a prayer.

Apologies to the good captain, but I believe I am right and a lot of others do as well, better follow your wife's foot steps and pick up the graduate degree.

Me, I will be fading away to peace and sanity...and THANK GOD!
Cav, must give you this one!!!! You know we haven't agreed much before, but I must say, I couldn't have said it any better myself!!! I fully concur!!

I will never have any faith in USAir until the day the ramp agents dekcuf pu seniority system is revamped and made equal for all and not just some. Everyone should go by hire date date and not by a system that picks and chooses who gets hire date seniority and who gets classification seniority. I lay most of the blame on the inept iam. All that those greedy money mongers care about is our dues. I anxiously await the day when we get rid of the iam. It is very frustrating when your coworkers that are junior to you get to bid shifts & vacations before those that are senior to them. roach coach jr could straighten it out but he refuses do so.buthe doesn't refuse to cash those dues checks!

I second that!
Yes, I think most employees would admit they fit into that category.

I think even SouthWest employees would have the same perspective if mgt slashed half their employees, and dramatically increased the work requirements while reducing resources to accomplish the new requirements. (Not to mention for reduced pay.)

The goal seems to be “more with less until we reach the nirvana of doing everything with nothing.â€￾

The part I like is when the paycheck comes in the mail.

It's bigger than any other company will give me to do this job.
TraderJake,

Obviously, you must be senior management! They are the only ones making out and know they are OVERPAID!

Not a current U employee, but a X one. I didn't enjoy working for them at all, however I did enjoy the employee's I worked with, at least the AMT's.

I read all these post and some of you amaze me. Many of you act like this is the first time US has been in the Sh*****. Think back in 1991 when we all thought we would go under and our stock hovered around $3 a share. I have heard the same complaints for the 15/17 years I have been working here. I am about convinced that many of you love the drama that IS US Airways. Besides Chapter 11, not much has changed at this company. I know, sad. :(

We have all seen more stupidity then we care to ever admit, but unless you have been here over 18 years, most of us never experienced the "US Air" that I hear many speak of. If it is the mid 80's before mergers you miss, then wow, you are way in the past. Most of the remaining 28,000 employees only know an US Airways in distress. So why put out a poll asking if you are happy working at US Airways?

The true question should be WHY ARE YOU HERE?
A. Love my job.
B. Love the airline industry.
C. Both A&B.
D. Love to complain.
E. Love playing victim.
F. Love making life miserable for everyone.
G. D,E,and F
H. Hanging on till retirement
I. I am entitled
J. I want to see us make it, by God.
K. I love the industry and I don't want to start over.

You see, enjoying working at US Airways and enjoying my job are two different things. I know of very few people who run around bragging about their employer. Southwest revers themselves on being a great company, yet a few thousand f/a's were at the end with the lack of willingness to settle a fair contract.

I have to question why these imflammatory polls keep coming up. We all know how most of you feel. The continual fanning the flames with these silly emotionally based, childish polls speaks volumes.

The question is...Do you like your job? I have a feeling many who complain not only dislike their company, but their jobs..better yet, their lives. Why not just start a thread called rant and roll...b**** all you want!!

Now, start the butchering...........

I have a question that is a little off topic. I am getting ready to travel abroad and am worried about my checked bags. I know that they will probably be searched but should I worry about theft? I will not put anything of value in my bags but have heard so many horror stories about things missing and am worried about bringing souvenirs back and them getting stolen out of my bags when I return. I will probably send valuable things home by FEDEX but still am a little concerned about my belongings that will be sent to cargo. Has anyone had problems with their checked bags going to Europe or coming back?
