Thanks for letting me know that is a sensitive spot. I will try not to push that button.

specific to this topic, airline schedules are compared to what was flown year to year.

The process of network planning should be to fine tune schedules to maximize profits and that usually means matching supply with demand.

And DL is cutting flights to Mexican beach destinations, CZM, GUA, SJD, PVR, and some non-Mexico, CCS.

LAX reductions: MTY, MZT, ZIH, ZLO  some non-mexican cuts SAL.

And DL is also reducing SLC to Mexico flights, and JFK to Central America flights and Caribbean flights also.

And DTW is also reducing Caribbean flights also and CUN.
not overly shocking for the low season......

and the fact that 693 gets his schedule information from a person who reports current year month to month changes instead of year to year.

Don't suppose it would make sense to compare Nov 2015 to Nov 2014?

maybe it's because DL has figured out that beach destinations aren't a great draw in September and October that has allowed DL to generate operating margins that are consistently exceeding 15% per quarter.
and a note, most of the LAX flying was launched this summer IIRC so its not really shocking to see them get pulled down in the winter.

exactly... and DL's ability to grow its network has been by doing really low risk additions in the peakest of seasons and expanding out from that point as well as adding capacity where other carriers have pulled capacity.

it probably means that DL is pursuing their enhanced cooperation in both Mexico and the US.

We don't know the specifics of what AM and DL are asking for but it probably also means that DL wouldn't have bothered to file in Mexico for anything if the DOT was telling it that it couldn't be done in the US.

No, that's now how it works. ATI needs independent approval from both ends. The applications are done and proceed separately. DL/AM would be foolish not to proceed with Mexican approval. You do them concurrently, even if one is holding back.

It is unlike route authorities, where only the country of the applicant's base needs to approve (hence why Mexico couldn't pull AA's LAX-MEX authority as you desired).

that's exactly what I said. AM and DL can't pursue enhancements if they know the DOT won't approve them.

again, what enhancements AM and DL are seeking approval for in Mexico were not disclosed - not sure if there is a Mexican version of regulations.gov. - but it is not likely they would pursue it even in Mexico if they knew the US would not or could not approve it.
