Death of Saif Al-Arab Gaddafi may backfire for Nato

Cheney isn't going to reveal any classified info Dude.
He knows more than he's letting on to.
Remember, some wanted to prosecute him for that....so what do you expect him to say?

Don't matter much now, Obama let the genie out the bottle. Anything Al Qeida here on out is on him.

Exactly how is saying water boarding worked and that's how we got this info revealing classified info? Does that mean the guy that Hackman is talking about needs to be fired and jailed?

According to Peter King R-NY, KSM gave up the first lead of bin Ladens' location during his interrogation and water boarding. Libtards must be floored that water boarding does work, and Gitmo terrorists gave up more info on bid Laden. Good thing it wasn't closed. I will give Obama credit for finally pulling the trigger on that murdering POS, now he needs to get the rest of them. Good job troops and CIA!!!

Cheney was more definitive about the accusations with Iraq than he was about how the info was obtained.

Nato is understandably frustrated at the diminishing returns of air strikes, since it has destroyed most accessible targets. But killing commanders and disrupting communications is far less important than the key task of degrading heavy military equipment, such as tanks and artillery.

That is too funny, taking out commanders and disrupting communications not as important as taking out tanks and artillery. Even someone waging an unconventional war needs command and control. If you don't have either then you become ineffective because you cannot coordinate efforts. If NATO were to get lucky and blow up Colonel Quack watch that whole house of cards start to fall.

Hence my question. Do you know more than Mr Cheney does? Cheney just said in an interview that he "assumed" that some info came out of the interrogations. He was more confident that WMD's existed in Iraq than he is about the results of the interrogations. Cheney does not know and neither do you. Look up the interview.

Things that make you say, " I don't know wtf I'm talking about" !

You typically do not and it has never stopped you from spouting off. The article referenced was printed today. As of yesterday I did not see any confirmation of yours or Dells assertion.

I still disagree with the use of torture for reasons that I and Sparrow mentioned earlier. No one will ever know if the outcome would have been the same without the use of torture. No one will know how many wild goose chances the US went on as a result of bad info obtained from torture. In my opinion if we use torture, we have become no better than those we are fighting. We do not use it on US soil against US citizens for a reason. Our laws and conscience do not accept it.

I don't know if you can fully wrap your arms around this but I'll try anyway.

Let's assume for discussion that Water Boarding was successful in gaining information about Bin Laden that led to his demise. Under the current protocol he would be classified as an Enemy Combatant. No problem here with a SEAL Team air conditioning him. Live by the sword, Die by the sword.

Now then fast forward to the Drug Dealer. What then of him? This is a well known quote about the silence of the intellectuals in Germany during the rise of Hitler.

First they came for the communists,
and I didn't speak out because I wasn't a communist.

Then they came for the trade unionists,
and I didn't speak out because I wasn't a trade unionist.

Then they came for the Jews,
and I didn't speak out because I wasn't a Jew.

Then they came for me
and there was no one left to speak out for me.

Allow me to modernize it for today and see if it makes sense?

First they came for Osama Bin Laden,
and I didn't speak out because he was a Terrorist.

Then they sent the IRS out to enforce ObamCare,
and I didn't speak out because I was self insured.

Then they came for the ACLU,
and I didn't speak out because I wasn't in the ACLU.

Then they came for me
and there was no one left to speak out for me.

Borderline torture such as water boarding IMO will soon be coming to a prison near you. Imagine being water boarded and interrogated because your child was late to school more than 10 times in a year and the district wants to know why? Think it can't happen? That's what the Germans thoyght and we know how that turned out. It's one damned slippery slope we're on here.

Hearing reports Obama knew of OBL hideout last August and didn't want to do anything.

Hearing reports decision to 'go' was stopped by POTUS and overturned inside the White House.

Stay tuned.......

Bin Laden killing won’t settle debate over enhanced interrogations

The upshot is likely to be that those who previously believed that harsh interrogation methods are a crucial tool for fighting terrorism will continue to believe that. And those who thought that the amount of useful information produced by such techniques is outweighed by the damage they do to America's reputation will stick to their guns, too. The killing of bin Laden may have struck a major blow against al Qaeda--but it won't be enough to resolve one of the most divisive debates of the post-9/11 era.

Then:
Bin Laden Raid Revives Debate on Value of Torture

But a closer look at prisoner interrogations suggests that the harsh techniques played a small role at most in identifying Bin Laden’s trusted courier and exposing his hide-out. One detainee who apparently was subjected to some tough treatment provided a crucial description of the courier, according to current and former officials briefed on the interrogations. But two prisoners who underwent some of the harshest treatment — including Khalid Shaikh Mohammed, who was waterboarded 183 times — repeatedly misled their interrogators about the courier’s identity.

Glenn L. Carle, a retired C.I.A. officer who oversaw the interrogation of a high-level detainee in 2002, said in a phone interview Tuesday, that coercive techniques “didn’t provide useful, meaningful, trustworthy information.” He said that while some of his colleagues defended the measures, “everyone was deeply concerned and most felt it was un-American and did not work.”

Personally, I do not believe in 'beating the truth' out of someone.
They'll end up saying whatever you want to not be tortured anymore.
I am surprised that some of these "interrogators" have not ended up as mass murders.
SparrowHawk has the the right idea.
IMHO

BTW, have you actually read the quote from Panetta? Or did you just read the head line and call it a day? The quoted head line is not actually a quote but a head line. No where in the quoted text from the interview with Panetta does that quote appear. No where in the actual quote from Panetta in the interview does he say anything that confirms or disproves your assumption. The actual quote which it seems you failed to read is this:

In the intelligence business you work from a lot of sources of information and that was true here," he told NBC News. "It's a little difficult to say it was due just to one source of information that we got. I think some of the detainees clearly were, you know, they used these enhanced interrogation techniques against some of these detainees."

As a typical politician, Mr Panetta made a statement that said absolutely nothing about what happened or how the information was obtained. You may continue to assume anything you want about what happened, but as of yet you still have nothing to prove your thesis. When and if he says that, I will be more than happy to concede your point. I will still disagree with the use of torture.

Becasue that's what every Preisdent does, as soon as they get unconfirmed reports they send in the troops guns blazing

And that when the President makes a decision it gets overturned.

Heard more today....seems Panetta was running the show......Valerie Jarret wouldn't let Obama commit....reason for Obama dragging his feet was he was worried if something went wrong, it would salvo his re-election.......Panetta and Hillary ramped up the pressure......Jarret still wouldn't let Obama commit.....Panetta said OBL's villa would soon leak to the media and Obama would really look like a stooge knowing since August and not doing anything about it,questions would be brought up and it would bite him in the ass. Seems Hillary and Panetta pulled of a coup and launched the mission with out Jarret or Obama knowing about it.
Seems Obama is a stooge in waiting and Jarret runs the WH from what I'm hearing.

Obama indecisiveness why Gates leaving....may leave sooner.
