First of all, if you are just here saying decertify AFA, you are already a part of the problem. AFA doesn't promote our f/a group to be big pussies staying attached to the pilot's hips. Some of you crack me up. We have done NOTHING but GIVEN and GIVEN and GIVEN through me screwed. It's sadistic. Just keep getting screwed over!

And PLEASE. stop the reserve victimization society and the blaming of the blockholder. I didn't reduce the number of f/a's putting YOU on reserve or keeping you there for your career. I wouldn't BE a life time rsv. I would stop whining and find another airline or another job. Like most BH, I am here to put in my time and stay out of this hell hole. I will not vote on anything that doesn't improve this mess of a rsv system. I must say, however, the more I here the blame the BH game, the less sympathetic I become.

Even with the way we do it now, I have had my seniority violated lots of times b/c of human error.
What did you do about it? Did you ignore it? If true, then you may be a part of the problem. You must grieve every violation. Never let management get away with anything. Ever.

I think it's about time we get with the times and have a computerized system.
I could not agree more but management seems to like the "control" aspect of scheduling, something they would likely lose with a competent computer system.

ALERT!

Gate agents in PHL told to report the names of F/A's who arrive late to the gate to work the flight. The gate agents are refusing to do this but managers are threatening them. Inflight management has given the direction from what we are hearing. Anyone else hear about this?

HE!! NO! I did grieve it and I submitted pay claims. Actually I had to submit them several times because they kept getting denied and I basically had to jump through hoops and be persistent! I would lay out the facts and the times and who was involved and then scheduling would make up something and then I would have to go back and do more explaining, blah, blah, blah...I will grieve and claim stuff even when I know I won't break guarantee or when it may not seem very significant just for the simple fact that I don't like to be screwed. Period.

I agree! If you give them an inch, they will take a mile!

I'm not blaming the BHs. I'm blaming the stupid contract! I wasn't on the property during the last vote. Actually, I didn't think I would ever work for US ever again. I had no say in the last contract vote! Also, I know I don't have to be here. We all have a choice and I could find a higher paying job next week if I wanted to. However, I actually kinda enjoy flying and I love the free time and other things so I'm not going to quit right now. As long as I am here, I will complain about this stupid reserve system. If you don't like it, then just skip over my posts when you see my name! You will never get me to shut up about the rsv system!

No I haven't heard this, but they have been far more interested in marking me off when I arrive. If it comes down to me or them getting in trouble and I was the one who was late, then so be it turn me in. I have no problem being held accountable for my actions.

On another note, I was in the gate area not so long ago in ORD and the "A" was starving after a long day of delays and no break, and he went to get something to eat. The gate agents were in a tizzy and called and reported him to somebody as soon as he walked off the plane.

Same thing happened in PHX once, though the FA was sick and didn't want to use the aircraft bathroom. So I am guessing it is not just a Philly thing.

The management boogeyman can go pound sand. Having enough food in their system so FAs don’t pass out from low blood sugar is a safety issue.

You're asking the wrong question, Piney.

You should ask, why would any company push anyone to the point of passing out without regard to the safety of the cabin and crew?

The company doesn't push anyone to do anything. Simply inform the gate agent you need something to eat, and you will inform the when the boarding will commence, upon your return. If there is a delay, they write the reason why. Simple. I have NEVER been called in because we left the aircraft to get something to eat.

Speaking hypothetically:

Suppose the F/A in question who was "feeling Dizzy" from not eating were to stay on board and once the flight was airborne, the F/A "passed out" in the galley.

What would happen?

Would the A/C have to divert?

Would the FAA, OSHA get involved?

Someone please enlighten me/us as to what would be the end result?
F/A's are not under OSHA...we have been trying and trying to get them in.

Looking forward to the March 4th meeting. Gave away my trip already. Please surprise me I have a dream that 100 people will show up. If you need a ride call me. Let let our council reps know that we are not asleep or dead at the wheel and neither should they be.

Going to do my best to be there .... However as a "Reserve", we don't get our schedules for a few weeks and I can assure you most won't bid to have days off to go the Union Meeting.

Just got done with a 4 day with 2 back-to-back 12 hrs shifts 7.3 block and it was scheduled. I like to make time, however on the 2nd day the airport "stole" our plane, we had to work an additional hour and a half and then we had to wait almost an hour for the hotel van. Others may like 12.5 hr duty/7+++ blocks, but not on a multi-day and I just don't feel comfy when the pilots do it as well.

The work conditions are grueling..... and are not getting any better

But If I am off, I will be there ... If I can't can someone forward this ???

Any member can take out a charge with the afa ethics board here in Washington. They review the case and decide if it should have a hearing. Why don't you just call AFA head office and file the papers yourself? Of course you will need to come here and present your case and the charged party has the right to defend themselves. It's like a court.
