Cost Cutting In The Clubs Or A Fluke?

I did learn this morning that it was in fact the Port Authority who removed access from Inflight Magazines for non payment. I got it from the club concierge this morning (yes I was there 2 days in a row).

I stand corrected and apologize for believing otherwise. Thanks!

With all due respect folks. Last I checked we were in Bankruptsy AGAIN. Last I checked there was a news stand that sells the USA Today for 75 cents. That is nothing to you and me, but it sure adds up for a bankrupt airline. You can't expect ticket prices to drop and things to remain the same. When we all took pay cuts we had to scale back on our spending, right? Well in a sense with airlines charging much less, they took a pay cut and have to cut costs. It's our reality. I would love for US to give you the world and give me back my $8 an hour they took from me. It's not going to happen. 🙁

Twice,

I understand and respect your post, however we PAY for membership in the clubs, over and above the price of the tickets, and we have had our memberships devalued by over 30% without compensation(33% of clubs open a year ago are gone). Adding insult to injury they want us to pay an additional $120 to have access to RCC's.

Therefore while I see where you're coming from, when we pay $300 or more a year for a facility, there is a reasonable expectation of a newspaper.

That aside, I am glad it was a vendor issue and not another misguided attempt at cost cutting.

My best to you all......

Twice I understand you anger. But this kind of thinking is not the answer.

I paid (not my company) almost $300 for the use of the club. I'm afraid it was money spent unwisely. To constantly have what I paid for "enhanced" by management is only driving VFF like me away.

I have not flown US in almost a month and half. I may not fly them again until Al is fired, but that is another story. Your anger needs to be directed at a couple of people in CCY. Here is why......

In the next two weeks I will be flying DL. Next week my ticket is $1810.00 on DL and US wanted over $2700.00 for the same ticket. The week of the 9th, I am flying in what was once US's back yard, PIT and CLE. I booked a ticket on DL this afternoon and paid $610.00. US wanted $1,400.00. Do you think US could have used that $2,400 in revenue? I wonder how many newspapers that would have bought. I wonder how jobs it may save?

I'm not coming down on you. You guys have been through too much for that. Art and I just happen to be two customers who go out of our way to support you and the employees. But at the end of the day I can't justify the difference in those fares and I think you will agree they are not $2 R/T or roach fares that I'm talking about.

But on another US topic, he posted the following yesterday as well.....

"red roach two this is black roach one. Package of 409 was successfully transported through security in EWR this afternoon at 17:34. Package is good to go. Alert all roaches"

Think someone is pulling our chain.

No one pulling your chain here. Thankfully I had a week off from flying.

Another roach flew with a bottle to see if it could be taken through security. It got through at EWR of all places. And the 409 was used on the plane. Pictures to follow later in the week.......

For whatever the reason, DL has been much cheaper out of GSO since the simplifares were put into place. I will hit 70 segments on DL after next week. 18 on US. The fares most weeks have not been within $500 of DL. Even on the trips I did fly on US, US was more expensive. If it is within $200 or so I used to give the $$$ to US. I not sure that is going to continue in the future. DL starts service on Sunday out of HKY, and so far the fares match GSO. US may not get another flight this year.

I do use the club flying out of GSO even when on DL, but if I'm no longer going out GSO, I think I may have just thrown $300 down the drain

I'm flying high and couldn't be more confident about the future.

Well, just figure that you're already four months into the year, so it only works out to 2/3 of $300, or $200. And it's got to be worth it to you to be able to fly out of the closer, more convenient airport.

And when you hit 75K MQM's you'll get comped access to the Crown Room.

Problem is I just renewed the end of March and I'm already a member of the CRC. I just simply made a bad choice, but I had a meeting in the PHL club and went ahead and renewed rather than doing a one day pass. Stupid is as stupid does. Oh well.....

It's a great day for TWA.
