Continental rampers

Your screen name is a perfect description for you because you are full of it. With this kind of thinking, is it any wonder why the "unskilled" did not honor the AMFA picket at NW? The NW mechanics lost their strike and the "unskilled" are still there making their wages; so much for the "riding the coattail of mx theory". Look at DL, their "unskilled" make around the same as their peers at the other legacies as does their AMTs and both groups are non-union. In fact their CEO stated that "all their employees are now at market rates." So the situation at DL also disproves the much loved AMT notion that the "unskilled" ride the coattails of the mechanics. If the F/As and/or ramp at NW strike and shut down NW, IT WILL BE THE MECHANICS WHO WILL BE RIDING THE COATTAILS OF THE "UNSKILLED'S" SUCCESSFUL STRIKE.

aafsc,

You need to get over your hatred of AMFA. You continuously ridicule AMFA because of the division of class and craft while ignoring the majority of workers at NWA that were to be laid off were cleaners and related. You can point fingers at the UAL AMFA for voting to eject the cleaners and CMT’s if that is your desire but it does not change the fact that the industry in its current situation demands cuts across all class and craft and not one union has made a stand to change this situation.

Also, your insistence that the AMFA strike is over after only 8 months while the IAM strike lasted two years and was successful only after ALPA joined the picket line is unreasonable.

Let’s not mince theologies, ‘WE’ as unionized workers need to support each other and use the very ‘basic’ concept of not crossing each others picket lines. If we would do this very simple thing, then all of our objectives could be met regardless of our union affiliation.

Take Care,

You know Tim I can see that you don't work at American Airlines. Do to the fact that American has stated several times that they are not going back to the employee's for more concessions. You and your little amfa boys need to find something new to SPEW.
And all through 2002 AA stated they werent going to the employees for concessions, then all of a sudden in early 2003 they needed and got more than anybody thanks to the TWU, the Totally Worthless Union.

You guys are better off with the threat of unionizing than going with the TWU. Once the TWU is on the property the company can cut your wages even more because they know that its harder to get rid of a bad union that to go from non-union to union.

The TWU just needs more dues payers to fund their corrpt International.

Only 100,000 members and around 100 Locals. Most of the Locals are nearly broke and cant do much for their members but by having so many Locals it keeps the membership from ever reforming the TWU. Thats why 70% stays with the Locals, because they are so small that without the 70% they couldnt exist. In fact over at American Airlines, where the 30,000 members are split up between 21 Locals American Airlines subsidizes the TWU to the tune of over $3 million a year. When asked about this TWU International Rep Bobby Gless responded that if the company did not subsidize the TWU they could not have so many Locals.

The TWU keeps their members divided and weak. Look at all the problems the TWU has with the one really big Local that they have-Local 100.They are fighting each other in court all the time. The TWU even had all the small weak Locals take out an ad criticizing Local 100 in a NY LABOR Newspaper "The Chief". The International even stabbed Local 100 in the back and did not support them in their struggles with the MTA in NYC.

With the TWU you get known liars like Jim Little, a former member of AA management, making deals that will maximize dues flow and lower wages.
