With all Eagle leaving at by June - Will AA be moving gates in CLT?

Could JB move to A and AA to D?

Does UA, DL or SW want additional gates in A?

Short term, don't know. Long term plan is to build a new terminal where rental car lots are now - they are moving to the new parking garage closest to terminal under construction now. I would guess that the new terminal would house all the 'other airlines' serving CLT, opening up the existing A finger for more AA/US flights. Haven't seen any specifics, though, other than they are planning to build it.
Cheers.

Hopefully the only "moving" will be moving flights to MIA since new AA's higher costs can't support low revenue markets like CLT

Not denying that. Just saying that now the pilots and F/As are no longer on bargain basement contracts and pay rates it won't necessarily be as lucrative going forward. Deny it all you US lover wants but CLT isn't a hot spot or major gateway like MIA is and does generate lower fares especially for connecting flights.

He does not understand airline economics and how profitable CLT - it's just his normal bashing of US

It's lost on some that regional jets are being replaced with mainline - which is better customer experience

Understand the economics full well, CLT fits US low cost low revenue model. Yes CPE is substantially higher at MIA, but MIA commands much higher fares.

Once again revenue and expense performance has been better at US than AA for a good while.  While MIA might have higher fares - if you have higher expenses - it does not mean you make more money - net income = revenue - expenses for example:

Fare 300
Cost 250
Net 50

Or Fare 400
Cost 375
Net 25

Wow that is mature

What's funny this thread was about gate consolidation in CLT - not airport profitability or hub profitability

The new gates are going to be domestic, not international.
Reported 5/23/14.....
See: http://www.charlotteobserver.com/2014/05/23/4928241/charlotte-douglas-airport-plans.html
"Charlotte Douglas International Airport plans to start work on a new concourse next spring, adding about a dozen gates for domestic travel.

The Charlotte Observer reported ( http://bit.ly/1nyNu4I ) the new plan replaces an earlier proposal to build a separate international terminal.
Interim Aviation Director Brent Cagle said the new concourse might eventually become a separate international terminal, but Cagle says what the airport needs now is more domestic gates.
The new concourse will constructed in two phases and could eventually have about two dozen new gates.
Airport officials had previously planned for that space to be used for a new 25-gate international facility at a cost of $175 million. It would have included the required federal inspection and passport facilities.
