What's new

CLT Airport

Keep in mind while CLT might not be the most modern airport around, by doing so it's costs are very low to operate from it. I agree that CLT could use some minor improvements inside and out to compliment some of the major projects on the horizon. Work is scheduled to begin very soon to replace the hourly parking garage located just outside the departure/arrivals area with two new garages. One will be for hourly parking and one will be for all the rental car company inventories. The main lobby will also be completely remodeled and expanded during this time, as well as security checkpoint areas as well. The last I have heard about this project is work begins late this summer.

My grief with clt is the public restrooms. I should't have to pay someone a tip to perform my bodily functions. This ain't Europe.

You don't have to tip. That's why it's called a gratuity. But I agree, it's creepy.

the BR attendees are kinda creepy, BUT, they did a pilot program down at the express gates, just one or two bathrooms. First to see how it worked, and also to see if they could keep anyone on the job I believe. The tip jar was debated, and they allowed it to stay, as the people in there make min. wage or close to it. What they did find though was that the bathrooms overwhelmingly stayed cleaner. At least at the express gates, by mid afternoon evening, you needed a biohazard suit to walk into one of them. ya, it's kinda creepy, but at least they are kept up.

He makes fun of rednecks. They came from West Virginia and Pennsylvania. (TRUE)

"Redneck refers to a person who is stereotypically Caucasian (i.e. white) and is of lower socio-economic status in the United States and Canada. Originally limited to the Southern United States,[1] and then to Appalachia, [2] the term has become widely used throughout North America, and to a lesser extent, Australia."

Y'all are the originals.

Heard they are putting crescent moons on the stall doors.

You haven't been blessed yet till you get the guy that says to everyone that walks in "Welcome to the mens restroom" and when you leave "Thank you for flying the friendly skies sir"

Since you think CLT is so horrible/backward/tacky or whatever then why are you moving here? Do us all a favor and don't come! We don't want you to transfer! If you do come and start complaining, we will make it very miserable for you because we don't like it when out-of-towners come down here and complain about how much nicer things are back home! If they are so much nicer, then why are you here? You couldn't make it? Housing too expensive? No job? Yeah, things aren't perfect, no place is! It is still a great place to live and work.

BTW, people think us Southerners are so ignorant and backwards but NC has one of the best university systems and just because we have a different accent doesn't mean we are a bunch of idiots. I have received (actually still am since I'm working on an M.A.) an excellent education here and I know many well-educated people here. We don't just sit around and fly rebel flags and drink sweet tea and lemonade on our front porches and eat BBQ all day long or whatever it is people think we do. Geez! I have run into more ignorant people who aren't from the south in my lifetime because they constantly ask me stupid questions and patronize me/insult me thinking they are being cute or funny. I have a "funny" accent! Get over it! OK, I'm off my soapbox now. I just take offense when people make fun of CLT and especially of Southerners.

I hope this rant wasn't directed at me, because I don't recall putting down any southerners or saying anything derogatory about CLT. I said the towel dispenser was tacky, and it was. I've said more positive things about the people, airport and airline than I've said negative. I've had nothing but good experiences in my recent trips to the Queen City. I still intend on setting up shop there ASAP, like it or not. I for one don't understand why CLT gets such a bad rap, and when I get my transfer I will be proud to say I live and work in CLT. I say it now and I don't even live there.

Not historically accurate. In 1921 there was a strike by the miners in WV and PA. Scabs were brought in to bust the union. A war ensued across the Appalachians. The union miners wore red bandannas on their necks to identify themselves as union men. Thus the name Redneck. The term as applied in your statement above is actually a misnomer. As I recall WV is a Northern State.

When will the construction begin on the new international terminal that I read about some time ago? Oh by the way, BRAVO flightchic....and I'm a "damn Yankee." A PHL/CLT hub/combo operation would be a powerhouse money maker for US on the east coast.
