City of Dallas still in talks with Delta about Love Field

Kev... My statement wasn't about the route making money but the airline making money . I should have been more clear. My contention has always been that DL really only wanted to serve dal to atl .

we will see segment and local O&D revenue numbers. The first look at all of the DAL flights beyond the Wright Amendment borders will be available in the 2nd quarter of 2015.

It will not only show if DL's initiative to fight to be at DAL was worth it but also how well WN is doing and what kind of impact it is having on AA and other DFW flights to destinations which are served.

the part we won't see is the cost side with any kind of detail.

DL is very good at adapting costs to revenue so if DL can generate sufficient revenues, then the issue of costs can be made to work.

DL is also very good at adapting to complex operational situations. They specifically built a JFK terminal which is built on extensive towing on/off the gate. DL operates one of the most complex fleets in the US but still manages to post one of the best on-time and completion ratios in the industry.

DL will adapt and succeed, as much as some people here want to believe DL can't and won't.

DL has many stations that board 400-500 passengers/day which is where DAL will be with only 4-5 flights/day (DL's schedule is reduced midweek and Sat now). It is also possible that DL could upgrade to M80s and likely will by summer if costs are a problem and that will increase cost competitiveness.

The chances are very high that DL is obtaining revenues as good as DAL for the same markets - not unlike the strong performance that WN is reportedly seeing.

Who is handling DL at DAL? Are they contracted out below the wing to Expressjet, or did they hire some other third party?

this has been discussed on multiple other threads, as one of this forums biggest wrong positions by the majority of people on this forum.

DL is still at DAL, will continue to be, and clearly has a valid legal argument, or DAL and both WN and UA would have said no without remorse but continue to accommodate DL.

This is indeed good news, the aviation landscape in N Texas is about to change forever...

What's really changed for DL, aside from operating the same market they've had for years with larger equipment and using a different set of gates?

That's what I thought. That means DL's customers and aircraft will come second to whatever Expressjet is dealing with on their own flights.

This is true.  However, Express doesn't have hardly any flights out of LF just like Delta, probably the same amount or less...

Correct E, nothing has changed at all except for the seats added.  Still the same'ole 5 flights to ATL, just using slightly larger aircraft and working out of different gates, and again it is only a temporary agreement yet again, nothing is perm.  We'll see all this drama yet again come first week of July.  Then a whole new out look could appear, maybe Virgin will have pulled back a little (hell maybe even SWA but I doubt it very much).  But I would be willing to bet it will get harder and harder for them to stay as we approach the summer flying...
