Could some one be so kind to explain the situation going on with the Chicago United Express work on the Ramp? I am hearing rumors that in order to keep the work the IAM agreed without a member vote to change the entire systems work rules except for certain work groups. Job security is number one but how can the rules change without the union members agreeing to a contractual change like that? And in reality wheres the job security without a change to the no lay off language? Rumor was also that the work would be a point within Chicago? How does that work. Will it have it own bid based on senority ie vacations, shifts,etc? I thought the IAM was taking grievances at Us Air against this sort of policy change for attendance? Just wondering. If 700 jobs were saved without concession then great but if some sort of back room deal was done which included a change to rules it should have gone to a vote before being agreed to by the Union.

My guess is IAM Air Wisconsin ground handling would like the work just like IAD and many others. This is UA past practice That is what you’re up against Air Wisconsin pay and work rules. Is it outsourcing if IAM keeps the work under Air Wisconsin. Or just bring the work in line with ZW contract. WHIPSAWING THE UNION

The deal in a nutshell is this....

The IAM negotiated to keep 700 jobs at chicago to work united express flights. The trade-off was to let the company change the dependability policy from a level program to a point system. The point system gives you 6 points per year. one point per occurence (so you can call in sick for 1 to as many days as you need, several days or weeks or months as long as it's continuous) It counts as 1 point. The most lenient sick policy I've ever heard of. fmla, critical illness, oji, and numerous others are exempt. No points for these occasions.

The next trade off for this lenient sick policy is if this policy doesn't produce "anticipated" significant cost cuts financially (which my guess is the cost for absences will skyrocket) then the company has the right to outsource approximately 6 THOUSAND airport jobs systemwide. The trade off for outsource is that the company has to meet with the union before they outsource.

There is no vote on this for the membership because it's considered a VENDOR negotiation.

And no, this isn't a joke.

The concession stand IS open and coming to a location near you!

Buying time

the Company determines that economic circumstances dictate that the Company must transition the work in support of the O’Hare UAX operation to a service provider(s);

Wait. What? Who agreed to this? I would like if someone could let me know the names of the 141 reps that negotiated and agreed to this if anyone knows them. Who did they talk to before agreeing to this? What workers wanted this deal? What did the IAM get out of agreeing to this? We are not even in BK and the union is giving up concessions! They saved 700 jobs?? For what 90 days! Seems like the IAM will lose more than 700 jobs with this \"letter of agreement\". The title of this agreement should be No Vasoline. How is Stores not part of this and the Ramp is? Isnt it the Ramp and Stores agreement? So hypothetically the Company can come back to the Union in 90 days and threaten that they are going to vendor out and the IAM will meet with them again to conceed another a system wide work rule without a member vote? Union members with out 1994 seniortiy are all subject to job loss regardless of classification. This \"agreement\" imo protected nothing. All the attendance point system did was give the company the ability to fast track employees out the door and still vendor out when they feel like it. This makes deal makes no sense. A lazy wet behind the ears 141 Prez surrounded by inexperienced new direction yes men and hey its contract time! Were screwed. You guys are right the CONCESSION STAND IS EXPANDING!
