Dear Moderators,

WHY DID YOU BAN LAVMAN OFf THESE BOARDS????????? There has been plenty of insults to go around from many posters. Why is he singled out? I believe a healthy debate is good. I thought that this is what these boards are about.

I believe there are certain moderators who "misapply" the rules and are too subjective.

If you enjoy Lav's posts, I'm sure Biffeman will fill any void.

If you witnessed the deterioration of the dialogue on the Yahoo boards, the use of multiple identities by certain people to publically agree with themself was very evident.

It is not a matter of enjoying somene's post or not. The point is expressing opinions. I did not perceive LavMan's post as threatening to anyone, unless there are a "bunch of whimppy cry babies" on here.

Sure, tempers fly. But no one is a threat to anyone on these boards. Hell, we don't even know who most of the posters are....these so called "threats" are so benign, let's get real. I've been threatened more on the job in real life with real people, then these damn boards. I think certain posters just have a "personal" issue with him, maybe cause they know him.

Personally, I get targeted more than anyone through PM, you don't see me running whining to the moderators and saying...please ban them.

MOderators need to "relax" and discern who is a real threat and who really is not!

From the many posts I have read from LavMan the very most he accomplishes on here is stimulating debate whether I agree with him in part, totally, or not at all. Otherwise, we all would be asleep.

I say, BRING HIM BACK!

I don't know what the particular post said, if someone complained about a post, or what the circumstances are...all I saw was "banned" and it was on another thread. I assumed that the moderator deleted the actual statements. You refer to threats but I do not know what they were.

I have seen very few banned on this entire message board, I haven't seen any evidence of undue censorship or banning people for a whim or in an indiscriminate manner. Occasionaly a moderator will step in, and say "play nice" or "get back to topic", etc, but I'd say its a very well run and fair board.

These are very stressful times and this board serves not only as a venue for us to exchange points of view and opinions, but to vent in a relatively safe and non destructive manner. Emotions are high without a doubt.

You are always a tenacious and passionate advocate for your beliefs and I'm sure you are a lightning rod for attacks, be it PM, email, or the workplace.

You say, "bring him back"... I simply say "he's still here." So, you will still see the exact same sentiments and points of view expressed, and the "stimulating debate" will not fade and we will not fall asleep.

The net effect of this action is zero, zip, nada.

Folks like LavMan, Chip and Bob, MMW, USAirboy, Dio, Clue, are great stimulators of debate. Slanted to the left often times and sting like bees...


I find it the opposite of what you say to be true of many of these moderators when it comes to interpreting the "rules". There way too subjective. You need a little flare once in awhile...otherwise it becomes boring dialogue at best!

Sometimes we all come across from time to time as wanting to strangle one another if we could reach over....but that is just in passing. Basically, most of the posters have become close in nature, and we understand very well each others prospectives EVEN IF WE DON'T AGREE SOMETIMES OR NEVER.

Every single poster brings into this board some of their character, personality, intellect, or lack of, prejudice, heart, some anger, disqust, frustrations, finger pointing, wisdom, etc...makes the world go round and makes us different but yet, very much the same.
LavMan is "one very benign guy". Never met him, but from these baords I know him very very well. So what, cut the guy loose once in a while ,but not for keeps!

Thanks for your thoughtful response.

As far as the banning, I made no assessment of whether or not it was justifiable, since I do not know what was said. So we can't be arguing the merits of that issue!

As far as the moderation, it has to be subjective by its very nature, but tempered by maturity, reason, and fairness. I haven't seen it abused. My opinion is the board is kept on a pretty level path. You seem to strongly disagree with that. Can we agree to disagree on our respective assessments?

There is a difference between being argumentative and having a stimulating debate. Debate requires a degree of civility and using reason and logic to make your points. I have no problem with anyone disagreeing with my viewpoints or my statements. I have no problem with folks that are strongly passionate in their beliefs. I give them more credence if they can point out to me the fallacy of my thinking.

No one is going to agree with everything another poster says or does. Your paragraph on what each poster brings to this board is very insightful and shows a depth of understanding the motivations and prejudices that we all have. We are a very different and diverse group, brought together in this unique forum by a common interest. Many more read along with us but never post. Our respect for each other and the online friendships we form should not be held to a standard that we must share the same opinion on every issue.

And now here's one for your BP ... please take a deep breath.

I am not attacking Lav the person. He has or had every right to be here and share his opinions as anyone else. I have no problem with them lifting his banishment whatsoever.

However...

I believe that everytime he touches a keyboard, Jerry Glass smiles.

Because IMO, the name of the game from this management is "divide and conquer", and manipulate the employees into fighting amongst themselves to divert the focus of their wrath. Divissiveness and anger is music to their ears. You've read their posts on here to stir the pot or spread disinfo, they love conflict.

I'd like to see the finger pointing stop, the name calling stop, and the posting of veiled or not so veiled threats, if that is happening... stop.

That's how I see it.

However, insults (put in a certain way, and without profanity) is welcomingly and entertaining at worst. believe me, I get most of them, and it makes me smile alot especially from management. I am not the moderators, and I have no control of who gets banned, but these guys wHo watch these boards, need to take a major CHILL PILL!

I am never insulted on these boards, no matter how offensive folks get, and they have gotten offensive. I have tough skin AND have my sword and shield....LOL.......

Lavman was banned because he/she blatantly broke our rules. We do not take threats lightly and thus they are not permitted in any way.

These forums are for everyone and it is our basis to protect all members by enforcing our rules and policies fairly. Anyone else who would have posted the same thing would have found themselves gone as well.

PITbull, if people are bothering you through PM's like you mentioned, please be advised there is a 'block' feature which will stop who you wish from PM'ing you.
