Unfortunately, Bob, there are a few of us old idealists around who would like to see a higher standard than "Is it legal?"

Refusing to take a paycut because your pay is "only a pimple" while taking pensions away from those near retirement is legal - a judge said so.

Accepting $1.7 million in "retention bonus" while guaranteed a job after the merger is legal - a judge said so.

Promising returns for concessions then denying or modifying those returns is legal - a judge said so.

The better question for each of these would be "Is it right?"

Unfortunately Jim the old idealists are not the ones in the drivers seat nor are they the ones that make up the BOD. They've got it worked out to be a good 'ol boys club where one hand is cleanly washed by the other. You take care of me and I'll take care of you has infected corporate America. Unfortunately the days of doing the right thing in the board room are long gone. The sad thing it isn't just the board room. It's prevalent throughout society.
Just last night a friend of mine found a dollar at a self checkout at a local grocery store. She took the dollar to the service desk and noted the number on the register at which she found it. The clerk at the service desk took the money and recorded the incident and remarked it would've been easier to just keep the money. My friend agreed with her then added "but it wouldn't have been right." That's the way our society is today. Very sad indeed.

I don't disagree on the world we do live in, Bob. Only saying that it's not the world I'd prefer. It's a shame so many have to "deal" with what "is" while a few get to decide what "is". The only "dealing" they seem to do is for how much of the spoils they'll get.

Aero,

No disagreement there, either. I just find it personally distasteful. Call me old-fashioned or whatever, but I couldn't look myself in the mirror if I did what some senior executives do. But they obviously have no trouble - look at Zeus, Truth, etc.

I too find it personally disgusting. I never thought I'd be happy to say I'm old fashioned but if being old fashioned means working an honest days work for an honest days pay then let me pin that name tag on. The spoils this executive team took in the name of saving the entity is a case study in an ethics class somewhere.

Excellent!

Jim,

I have never stated what position that I hold within the company. I might be a front line employee or maybe not. You clearly don't understand the sacrifices that each executive has contributed to the company. Don't judge a person unless you have walked a mile in their shoes. You don't even know the $$ for the bonus monies. It is not a very large amount.

Zues,

Quit while you are behind, the majority of the regular posters know EXACTLY who you are.

This makes alot of sence????? Stick to the facts, 700...STOP "attacking", and "insulting".....and, oh, bye the way.....if "most" posters' on these boards know who this person may be....why do you have to point that out??? MOD GODS.....are you paying attention??

Learn to read and comprehend, MOST REGULAR POSTERS.

Go stalk someone else.

You have proved nothing. I stand by my comments "most regular posters" is that so hard for you to comprehend the meaning?

You need some help, and following me from thread to thread and attacking, insulting and calling names is stalking.

Guess you did not learn from your previous suspensions for the same behavior.

What's the matter Zeus - did I strike a nerve....

I don't need to "walk a mile in their shoes" to know that I could not do the things you so devoutly defend - no, not just defend but praise. It's just not in my character. Perhaps your praise of such actions speaks to your character.....

You Have got to be kidding. hundreds of thousands in salary, millions in bonuses, weekends off, holidays off, not worrying about the mortgages in any of their houses, sometimes multiple houses. Not to mention mearly paying the electric bill. You have got some nerve claiming these thieves have sacrificed anything! Why dont they try walking a mile in out shoes, before they ask and get 50 million in bonuses while at the same time furloughing thousands because they claim they cant afford not to. the whole thing is disgusting!
