BREAKING NEWS: US Airways Election Dates Announced!

WRITE IN AMFA!!!
I pulled this from AA ( Sure thing fellas. You guys are a JOKE and don't even realize it. The association failed to get enough cards, failed to submit the cards they had on time, failed to correctly deliver the required papaerwork, and failed to sign the paperwork.

They failed to take responsibility for these mistakes and instead blamed everyone and everything else. They failed at every property with less than enthusiastically cooperative management.

Your solution is a write in ballot???

A true definition of insanity.)
THAT SAID IT ALL VOTE IBT!!!!
WRITE IN AND FAIL....

Just letting the mechanics at US know (some do not know about the write in option) they will have the option to "write in" AMFA as another option to the IAM or ibt. If some here want the options that they have please go and read the NMB site about the election procedures. By "writing in" AMFA is still a vote counted as "a vote FOR representation", it DOES NOT count as a vote for non-representation, as some out here in cyber land have claimed. It don't even have to be AMFA, if some want TWU then they can "write in" TWU. But I would highly doubt anyone wanting TWU as the AA'ers are currently trying to fire them just as you guys are trying to fire the IAM, and this is why I would suggest to you guys to "write in" AMFA as an option afforded to you for another union to bring in for new representation. It is very possible to get AMFA on your ballot if you guys would want them on the ballot. The highest amount of votes for 2 of 4 of your options that you will have, will get a run-off election. Most people do not know this, and most are being told that if they do a "write in" and not vote for one of the 2 unions listed as an option (ex: IAM or ibt) that their votes would be counted as going towards non-union. This is just not true, people need to take the time and educate themselves of all the options they have and what their choices realy mean when they exercise any of their options that will be givin to them by the NMB when they send you a ballot for representation. Good luck to all of you guys. IMO I would "WRITE IN" AMFA. They truly are the most transparent, democratic, class and craft union.

Go ahead Travis, vote Ibt. Oh, and good luck with that industry leading contract, I'm sure you guys will get it (sarcasm)

I AM NOT WRITING IN AMFA ! THERE IS NO WAY I AM WRITING IN A GROUP WHO HAS NEVER STEPPED FOOT ON THE PROPERTY LET ALONE HOW AMFA HANDLED THE NWA MECHANICS NEGOTIATION. GO BACK TO YOUR OWN FORUM.

What really has me upset about this whole Union infighting is that the USAirways Mechs have suffered long enough and when the payoff is within earshot along comes a bunch of idiots who think that a change in representation will change all that. This merger is the key to our success and retirement. Once this merger goes through we will have regained our seat at the table. No Union change will be needed. A merger was needed to put the business model where it should be to be successful going forward. The NEW CBA is on the table. The AMR Mechs will have taken BK cuts for a total of months not years.

Funny you mentioned NWA nego's. It was AMFA at NWA that jump started the industry in leading pay and bennies.

Swamt,
Do u see an organized amfa writein? If so why wouldnt amfa make it official?
Sorry Tim I should have answered this question better. AMFA National has not made anything official yet. I will copy a paragraph from AMFA's National Director's month of May update from the AMFA National web site: "working and training with those who have the interests of our members protected.
On May 28, 2013, the IBT filed for a representation election at American Airlines with the National Mediation Board (NMB), and just a few hours later American Airlines was somehow able to deliver their eligibility list to the NMB. This unprecedented expediency by the Company effectively blocks AMFA from filing as an intervenor and getting on the ballot. Although we filed our petition via fax as soon as possible, the NMB has informed AMFA Legal that our filing has been rejected because the original filing documents and cards did not arrive before 4PM on May 28. {It is greatly disappointing that the thousands of mechanic and related employees at American Airlines that signed AMFA cards are now being denied their opportunity to get AMFA on the ballot; however, we are exploring all of our options which include a write-in campaign if the NMB determines that the IBT has submitted enough cards to force an election.} If the NMB determines that the IBT failed to demonstrate the “sufficient showing of interest” and filed short of the requirement, the IBT has also prevented the AMFA organizers from reaching their goal of an AMFA representation election. Nothing official has started yet from AMFA National. Once the NMB calls for an election then the AMFA will start the "WRITE-IN" campaign. There are currently some AA mechanics that were either campaigning or supporting AMFA that have started their own "WRITE-IN" education informational drive to be better prepared once/if NMB calls for an election. Not sure about if anybody is doing anything other than posting info on the internet at US. However, the US mechanics also will have the very same option as do the AA mechanics with the "WRITE-IN" option afforded to them. And they too need to have all the info available to them prior to them starting to vote. Good luck to you guys in your upcoming election for new representation, and remember the "WRITE-IN" option...

Swamt,
thanks. Not sure if AMFA ever had the majority support at AMR but, even as a write-in, it will be a viable candidate. In any, case, it will necessarily mean a run-off election between the top two [presumably AMFA, IBT] if the TWU can maintain enough support to trigger one. Of course, this also assumes that nobody at AMR wants or will be writing in the IAM.

Then comes the tough question, which union pissed off the TWU supporters the most? It's a tricky situation but whoever finishes third will be in position to sway support for another union.

I know all 3 unions hate eachother's guts at this point. But I can't see AMFA or the IBT mechanics voting or pushing the 'same ole' TWU that they both worked hard to remove.

Politics at the top may also come into play. If the TWU finishes last, then the IBT may broker a deal with the TWU for support if the IAM wins the US AIRWAYS election. Messy indeed.
