Brand Image Amr Vs Jblu (song Too)?

"ModerAAtor:"Since TV is live, they missed the beginning of whatever was on NBC at the time, and had to get off the aircraft halfway thru ER..."

You are right, they should have flown AA, then that would not have happened. Instead, they could have caught the entire episode of ELR, that was aired a while back.

As a "Bloonie" I find it amazing, that people who have never flown jetBlue finds AA product superior. How can one possibly compare, with no experience?

While it is quite true, that jetBlue does not serve the midwest, that will only be a matter of time. Last I checked jetBlue had 50 airplanes, AA probably 600 if not a few more. So, give it some time.

My somewhat biased take, would be as follows:

Snacks: jetBlue offers a larger variety on all flights.
Leg room: AA has MRTC, jetBlue has removed a row to increase leg room. Row 1 and 11-26 offers as much room as AA, if not slightly more. One should note, that on the low fare routes AA is decreasing pitch. So jetBlue offers good legroom and low fares.

IFE: We can argue, whether the "boobtube" is better than a book, but it certainly is better than "canned video" which, if you have flown a few times, one often gets to watch the same reruns, with no choice. jetBlue does offer 24 channels, there might be something on, that one has not seen. What maintenance on the system has to do with the product is beyond me, but yes, jetBlue does often give compensation, should the system be down. While I cannot say for certain, I doubt AA gives compensation, if their video system is down. Not to mention, that a few AA airplanes has no IFE system what so ever.

Once the EMB-190 starts flying, it should be a much better experience than the ERJ. It offers more room and it will have the IFE. I think it will be favorably received.

Bottom line: jetBlue offers a great product, with quite a few plusses for a LCC. A product that I believe is very competetive.
I was told by a Jet Blue F/A that the row of seats was removed to make way for a closet to settle some of the legal issues with acommodating wheelchairs. Anyone care to comment? What is the new seat pitch anyway?

Correct, B6 had to add closet.

New pitch for row 1 and 11-26 is 34" equal to MRTC, but not superior as some MRTC is 35".

Traditional seat pitch rows 2-10 is 32".

TV's aren't really that much of a deal breaker. It is simply the style, value and customer service that B6 has brought back to air travel. AA has a solid reputation and should not have a problem competing in these areas.

No closet. The row removal was contemplated before the wheelchair flap came up. The row came out primarily for passenger comfort, and also to keep the weight down on longhauls due to higher average passenger weights. Anyone requesting cabin stowage for wheelchairs will have their chair strapped to seats as before. Except now everyone is aware of the rule so the DOT rules will be complied with. The DOT was unhappy with how the requests were handled, not with storage arrangements.

I may be mistaken, but I thought we were talking about brand image and onboard services, not routes served. If we are talking network, AA wins by a mile, hands down. The advantage of being almost ten times larger.

As far as the cities served, do ask AA or UAL to give us a few gates in ORD. jetBlue would love to have them and add Chicago to the routemap, but I doubt either airline wants to see that!

I hope we will go to MCI for two reasons, one to make you a convert and two, great steaks:)
Indeed we are, but point being, when Jetblue is overflying 80% of the population, what good is TV? Just trying to point out that there is more to the good old USA than New York, California and Florida, though many may find that hard to believe.

On a side note...if you think the steaks are good, you ought to taste the BBQ!

We can argue forever about WHY B6 removed the row of seats. Bottom line is, it did remove one row of seats while AA stupidly thinks it will compete with B6 with less seat pitch on its 757s. Live TV, hip crews, more seat pitch for 65% of the cabin - and Arpey thinks AA is spilling traffic now in liesure markets. Just wait til these occasional fliers find out that AA gives less than B6.
