JetBlue move doesn't sit well (<click here)

American bristles at legroom, Internet news, saying it was first.

LONG BEACH A battle of words between American Airlines and JetBlue Airways was spawned in the last 48 hours over announcements by JetBlue that it has remodeled its fleet to provide more passenger leg room, and now has free Internet service at one of its busiest terminals.

Jetblue would like people to believe they offer more legroom, but as already noted, a third of the aircraft won't get it.

Don't have the specifics, but as best I can tell, AA's legroom is within an inch of Jetbloo's expanded pitch.

Spoke with a friend who tried them last month, and the IFE wasn't all it is cracked up to be. Since TV is live, they missed the beginning of whatever was on NBC at the time, and had to get off the aircraft halfway thru ER...

I get tired of things like Everyone Loves Raymond on tape, but at least I get to see the entire episode!...

I have to say one thing, I do get treated better on other airlines, then I do on my own. That's really pathetic!
Thats pretty much true for ALL airlines. When you fly another airline you'r a "guest" and they treat you as such. When you fly your own airline your just someone "in the way" or "someone who's bothering them".

I have flown on JB and the employees are very nice. From the agents to the crew they all seem to be happy no matter what. I especially like them because as a f/a we can jumpseat on JB. I fly on AA as much as I can. Since I fly free in Y class, why not? But, I always carry several ID90's in my bag just in case I can't get on. I have to say one thing, I do get treated better on other airlines, then I do on my own. That's really pathetic!
I agree, the JB people are very nice, overly nice I'd say. I'm wondering whats spiking the water cooler. But there are some extremely nice AA folks too! I still maintain that the JB product is completely inferior to the AA product. JB is now going to put some RJs in the fleet, so smaller and more cramped. If JB had larger aircraft for the long hauls, I'd probably give them more business.

Your point? Am I not supposed to know about D90 Travel?
The point is that you wrote:

I'd D90 on the competition before I'd let my own airline treat me like cargo.

You slipped and let your guard down. You wrote it in the first person as the disgruntled employee that you are, not in the third person as the investor, you pretend to be, would have written.

As everyone who frequents these boards knows, ID90 travel is a perk which is available only to the employees, not the shareholders.

I slipped on nothing, so stop having your orgasm now. I simply said if my employer treated me like cargo, I'd D90 on the competition!

As to the D90 availability, it's the shareholders that make it possible for you to have it! ANYONE WITH A FRIEND OR RELATIVE IN THE BUSINESS KNOWS WHAT D90 IS!

Great intelligence though. See why TWA is now. . . . no more?

Thank you for playing. Have a nice day!

As a "Bloonie" I find it amazing, that people who have never flown jetBlue finds AA product superior. How can one possibly compare, with no experience?

While it is quite true, that jetBlue does not serve the midwest, that will only be a matter of time. Last I checked jetBlue had 50 airplanes, AA probably 600 if not a few more. So, give it some time.

My somewhat biased take, would be as follows:

Snacks: jetBlue offers a larger variety on all flights.
Leg room: AA has MRTC, jetBlue has removed a row to increase leg room. Row 1 and 11-26 offers as much room as AA, if not slightly more. One should note, that on the low fare routes AA is decreasing pitch. So jetBlue offers good legroom and low fares.

IFE: We can argue, whether the "boobtube" is better than a book, but it certainly is better than "canned video" which, if you have flown a few times, one often gets to watch the same reruns, with no choice. jetBlue does offer 24 channels, there might be something on, that one has not seen. What maintenance on the system has to do with the product is beyond me, but yes, jetBlue does often give compensation, should the system be down. While I cannot say for certain, I doubt AA gives compensation, if their video system is down. Not to mention, that a few AA airplanes has no IFE system what so ever.

Once the EMB-190 starts flying, it should be a much better experience than the ERJ. It offers more room and it will have the IFE. I think it will be favorably received.

Bottom line: jetBlue offers a great product, with quite a few plusses for a LCC. A product that I believe is very competetive.

How can anyone on this AA message board be neutral? Obviously, you will all defend AA. That's to be expected.

But the reality is that JetBlue kicks AA's rear in just about every conceivable way!

How can anyone claim that the 30 or so AA/Citibank commercials on AA can even begin to compete with live TV? Let's be real people. AA is way behind the inflight entertainment curve.

Customer service employees & FA's at JetBlue are light years ahead of AA customer service. If I had a penny for every frown I've gotten from AA flight attendants and customer service staff, I'd be richer than Donald Trump!

I know most of you will not agree with me, since most of the participants on this forum work for AA. But reality can sometimes be a hard pill to swallow.

JetBlue wins hands down over AA!

Wow, that's great to hear! Can JetBlue get me to St. Croix next week? How about Honolulu in January, I'll bet they have a nice ride to Honolulu! I have three stops in South America in February, I guess I'll book those on JetBlue too, just to see how they compare. I mean hell, if they kick AA's rear in just about every conceivable way I want to check it out!

Yeah, that's a good way to speak. I and many other people are out of work. You're right, no hatred in your posts. Because of one post from someone you feel that it justifies the fact that people are out of work------what a guy.

It's just that y'all spend an inordinate amount of time, complaining about who's fault it is that you ARE out of work. Do any of you see an end to this whining anytime soon?

Please read my posts....I blame Bin Laden and the economy. Would you be happy to be out of work? I don't believe I have whined that much. As far as spending an inordinate amount of timeWe both joined this bb on the same day. You have over 700 posts to just over 60 for me. I'll bet you my posts were more of trying to get along than yours were and a lot less whiney. A little compassion from a few of you would go a long way.

I guess because Jetblue doesn't serve MCI...or Dallas, or Chicago, or Cleveland, or Houston or ...well, you get the picture. There is more to the USA than the east coast, and there's an awful lot of real estate that JetBlue is flying over that could be served by a 320, but most likely will have to wait for a 190. Now...given that anywhere I need to go, I've got to start at MCI - and JetBlue hasn't decided to serve there, then AA has to win by default.

I may be mistaken, but I thought we were talking about brand image and onboard services, not routes served. If we are talking network, AA wins by a mile, hands down. The advantage of being almost ten times larger.

As far as the cities served, do ask AA or UAL to give us a few gates in ORD. jetBlue would love to have them and add Chicago to the routemap, but I doubt either airline wants to see that!

I hope we will go to MCI for two reasons, one to make you a convert and two, great steaks:)
