BOS Pilots,
Copied below is the schedule for the Joint MEC Meeting called by John Prater on Tuesday, July 17, in Washington DC.
As you can see, there'll be plenty of time to eat, drink, and socialize, all the telltale signs of the beginning of a full-court press to make us one happy family again and out on the street picketing together for a Single Contract.
I plan to attend, because there's a message I want to deliver, and that message is that regardless of the arguments swirling around this Award, there is one truth that everyone needs to understand. This Award is not acceptable to the East because it will plunge us into a civil war between the have and have-nots the magnitude of which is beyond comprehension. We will not allow that to happen, ALPA National should not allow that to happen, and no amount of "consensual" Band-Aid "fixes" will change this fact, nor allow either of us to escape from our responsibilities.
What messages are the other AAA Reps going to deliver? Don't know for sure, they may be planning on not saying anything at all. Maybe now's a good time to ask them.
As for me, I don't believe that you elected me to go to a meeting of this magnitude and not express the views of the AAA pilots. And to date, I have not heard from one pilot who has told me that they are willing to accept the Nicolau Award.
I can tell you that I'm not going to accept it, and will do everything in my power to ensure it stays on a dusty shelf and never sees the light of day on US Airways.
Respectfully,
Garland
