The U.S. Embassy in Brussels informs U.S. citizens that anti-terrorism police activity is ongoing and that Belgium remains on threat level FOUR, the highest in the Belgian scale. U.S. citizens are urged to avoid any police action that may occur. U.S. government personnel have been requested to defer non-essential travel to Brussels until Tuesday, March 29, 2016. The U.S. Embassy remains open for emergency U.S. citizen services only. U.S. citizens requesting emergency assistance should call the Embassy at 02-811-4000.
The Brussels International Airport remains closed through Friday, March 25. Intercity trains are operational; however, travelers may expect delays due to increased security. The Brussels metro is running on a limited basis. Buses and trams are operational.
