well that doesnt surprise me as i'm sure that amw was/is watching evry move usair makes and the liquidation possiblitly of usair probably makes clt an attractive place for amw

After the Bronner/Lakefield going out of business sale, AWA will own a nice chunk of what Uair is today, minus the shuttle, which will be sold in whole to AA.

The shuttle is not a seperate company, it is part of mainline, the slots are the collateral for the ATSB loan.

Once the ATSB is paid off it becomes unencumbered and can be sold to whomever the company chooses.

Aeroman is right.. ATSB doesn't want slots.. It surely wants its cash back. BK Court will force UAir to liquidate all assets, then to pay its creditors in their proper order.. The Gov't is always first in line.. 😉

The Shuttle is going to be sold like a 17 year old prostitute in Bangkok..

Can you not understand, there is no more Shuttle, it is mainline flights, mainline crews, mainline airplanes.

Look at the planes, there is not even shuttle on the livery anymore.

You can't sell something that does not exist.

Literally, you are absolutely correct. But I'm assuming that ubwu is talking "metaphorically" here, meaning the sale of the assets that constitued an operation instead of an operating entity.

If we sold the slots needed to operate a shuttle-type operation, maybe some airplanes also, then we stopped operating a shuttle and the buyer of the assets started one, the end result is that the "shuttle operation" has been transfered even though no entity called "US Airways Shuttle" ever changed hands.

Likewise for MDA. It the Emb-170's were sold, MDA would cease to exist as a part of U. No entity called MDA changed hands, but the assets that made up MDA did.

With US Airways on life support, is America West Airlines laying the groundwork for a move into Charlotte, N.C.? The Tempe airline has joined the Charlotte Chamber of Commerce.

The perplexing move was discovered by an eagle-eyed participant on the America West message board on Yahoo.com, who said in a Wednesday posting that he came across it while searching for something else on the chamber's Web site. America West spokeswoman Janice Monahan wondered if it was a case of mistaken identity, but chamber spokeswoman Stacey Ellis confirmed the airline joined Aug. 5.

Charlotte Aviation Director Jerry Orr said the airport has not had talks with America West, but he, too, got wind of the chamber membership Wednesday. "I thought, hmmm . . . " he said.
