August Load Factor!

Just what the hell would you have done if you didn't have the FREE miles. Did you REALLY get them from flying or from a credit card the wife charges groceries on? So you went for free...WHOOah. It costs $$ to do anything...do I think my utilitie bills are fair? Are my car repairs resonable? GET OVER IT.... If you don't like the damned price...drive and stay in a hotel and look like crap when you get to the destination. These airlines are not buying a/c for the price of a minivan. And by the way...the less you spend ...the more of a pain in the ass you are...I'm not working for free for your comfort and enjoyment, and you probably sat there stewing on the Delta flight....cause u had to pay WHAT IT WAS WORTH...gIVE ME A BIG DISCOUNT THE NEXT TIME...AND LET THE BOSS TAKE IT OUT OF YOUR POCKET..WHINER.
I own the utility company and I am going to quadruple Stewbear's rates every Friday because I feel like it, no other particular reason. And my friend is his mechanic, he's going to charge triple the going rate only because he doesn't like the color of his car. After all, it all makes just as much sense as the fares.

Ok...Fine...I pay whatever the electric, phone, gas company tells me to pay, and I don't see them taking a major paycut to subsidizie any freebies to me or my family. But I have been FORCED to do it for your fat ass. So take your weak argument(and Piney Bob) to the hole. We are FED UP with this b/s. So go off to Town and Country where your kind can relate and expect some kissin from some poor person who thinks you are "someone"....I don't...and the next time I see you bragging about the miles you are getting when in line at the mall I'll be more than happy to remind you where the freebie is coming from. Just sign me FED UP!

Stewbear, I'm sure you will be happy to know that my 130,000 Delta frequent flyer miles I have earned YTD are from flying. I don't even have a mileage-earning credit card.

If you really think that customers are the cause of your woes, I hope that you are close enough to the bottom of the list to get nailed in the next round of RIFs.

Your company is at a competitive disadvantage with it's current fare structure. Have you looked at BWI lately? That little episode will repeat itself until you HAVE NO AIRLINE LEFT. The said fact of the matter is that there are other airlines that can get people from point A to point B for less money than U can. Is that your fault? No. Do you have to bear the brunt of it? Yes. Is that parituclarly fair? No. Is insulting people who pay your bills stupid? Yes. Ultimately it is a question of consumer's habits: am I going to pay X $500 to get me where Y will take me for $250? Nope.

And if you looked into it for just a bit and put the coffee down, you might learn that mileage earning credit cards are a huge profit center for an airline. They make more money selling miles to people like credit cards, long distance firms, hotel chains, and so forth than it costs to redeem the miles for transportation.

Next time you rant, check your facts first.

I have checked my facts. 60% of frequent flyer miles are not earned by flying. The 60% are earned by affinity cards etc. The employees resent the fact that people are flying for free (buying groceries on a credit card) and they (the employees) have given actual dollars from their paychecks to pay their bills. There is a cost to this program...you know the "confidential" number you call to take care of any problems and the wonderful person you talk to. Well if AA or UAL said enough is enough these people would be gone and the freebies would end. Airline crews stay in Hotels all over the world, The hotels do not give points to the crew members for their stay except MAYBE room service. The airlines have created this problem but of course in their usual "style" they ignore the fact that animosity might exist. If you guys think you are not being treated well...imagine what we are going through..but aside from e  verything else....thanks for flying us. We do appreciate the bussiness.

By the way.... can I get something free and take it from your pay ( i'm sure the boss would go along) when I buy one of your widgets? Gee I have my super duper silver platinum gold diamond widget cards right here... of course I have to thank the ex for running that baby up to the max, now I want what I want and let me demand the impossible from you and those closest to you ...... Hmmmm, feel that  burn? I feel it everyday.

Read this slowly, so that it sinks in:

US AIRWAYS makes money on mileage sold to affinity cards, and hotels, and the like. They BRING IN far more money than they PAY OUT in the form of free tickets, because people don't redeem them often enough. Follow?

1. Charge companies like credit card firms, hotel chains, and so forth to "buy" DM miles.

2. The end-customers don't redeem enough free tickets to offset the income brought in by selling miles to affinity partners.

3. Net result--profit.

Affinity programs are big with the airlines for just these reasons.

As for my firm, we don't have any sort of mileage or affinity program. We don't need to . We don't stick our customers with ticket and fare rules, restrictions and fees that they don't understand. We don't make buying our product hard to do. We don't make using our products as painful as flying. It's a straightfoward value proposition, and therefore we don't need to promote loyalty in such a way.

You really think that frequent flyer tickets are coming out of "your pay?" Reality check time. You are conviently ignoring the fact that somebody either has to have butt-in-seat miles to get the free ticket (which pays your salary) or they used an affinity card/hotel/rental/whatever, which is a profit center for your employer and therefore paid your salary.

Forget about all of this: it really comes down to a consumer getting their best deal. If you have ever shopped around for either price and/or value on anything, you are guilty of the sin that you are slamming others for doing.

So, the next time you walk into Wallmart, just think--maybe the greeter is as pissed at you as you are at the pax who pay your salary.

Cheers.
