Attended Stan Herman's meeting today in Phoenix

hey i could do without a vest. as long as the uniform we get is nice. the reason i wear a vest is because it looks far better than that stupid aviatior shirt we have. if you give me something better, i will ditch the vest. as long as it looks good , i will wear it. i always say,if i am gonna wear this uniform 50% of my life, might as well try to look good in it. no harm in that huh.

And you look OH So GOOD etops! ;)

Uniforms cause too much trouble. Pick no uniforms, or no clothes.

A scary thought either way but it is better than listening to this.

It would be like a day without orange juice wouldn't it EMBFA? Just out of curiosity who told you that you were better than anyone else?

Watch out America West folks......this is a common US AIRWAYS attitude about a lot of things.

Oh no America West is fine.... cant wait to work with them. With Express we knew when we walked in the door and saw bare feet and dirty uniforms in what is supposed to be a workplace-- its not hard to be a cut above something like mesa. And who told us we were better? The passengers, the agents, the pilots who went to RW... some of those f/as did but most did not we were ashamed to be even remotely associated with them. give them thier own uniform and identity and maybe it will mean something to them. the logo on the tail means something to me.

Someone, please, if you want "fun" accessories for Hawaii/Carribean -- NOW is the time to ask for them while we have a designer that both listens and seems to know what he is doing! Scarves, ties, patterned shirts -- whatever works...

I just came back from Hawaii on HP and the F/A's all had flowers in their hair or wore leis -- on the way out and back, too -- really made me feel like I was going someplace special. Fun, "tropical" themed accessories would make a great statement, too! Stan could use his "symphony of blues" and add some red and tropical green (teal) in a bolder pattern and you'd have a "concerto of tropics" to work with too! Could be really special for those trips...

Stan would like a reversable smock that is good for CARRIBBEAN AND HAWAII but leanes ue in same uninform..smart!!

Guys, I must tell you..Give Stan the chance !!!! You WILL be happy!!! Not everyone but 90% will. He knows fabric and fashion. Lived in NYC for 12 years!! Get out of your backroad PHX and backroad middle America BULLCRPS!!! STAN WILL make us proud!! PLEASE!!! I beg you!! RTake it from a formal NY'er...You WILL be happy!!

I have flown mainline and Express and have seen problem folks at both. You act like every single individual at Express (besides the wholly-owned carriers because they are all as beautiful as you) is a troll.

I feel like I am conversing with Cinderella's wicked step-mother. "Oh no Stan give them the rags to wear while we display the beautiful gowns and jewels."

You are a human being and sit no higher (or lower) than anyone else. Get over yourself.

I stand by my warning to America West.

THEY ARE!!!

Kobe, the word is option. You WILL be able to go tieless year round. One sharp piece for the guys for winter is a mock tie shirt to wear with one of the varied slong sleeve shirts. Stan PROMISED it would be sharp. And then of course you will have a nice short sleeve shirt for summer.

I am changing my stand on the tie. When I have flown to Europe I have felt embarrassed by our presence. I love biz casual and will take FULL advantage of it on domestic, but when I fly to Europe, country pride is at stake and I want to represent our country AND airline that bears US as well as possible considering our prez has done a good job of fudging THAT up well enough.

Your option IS being recognized. Why take the tie option away from those that want US Airways to be represented at it's highest level internationally?

We serve 16 European countries, about 20 Mexican/Canadian/Cenral American and about 25 Carribean destinations for around 50-53 international cities/countries. We may be a LCC, but we are ALSO an international carrier and we must be willing to add/change uniform pieces to reflect such.

BTW, Stan noted that the OVERWHELMING majority of the PHX f/a's wanted a less SWA look and the casual/formal option..pretty much like CLT and PHL.

I said ditch the tie on DOMESTIC. I don't care what the diva's wear on Europe. I will also add ditch the tie on the Caribbean. Do you see what the passengers wear on those flights. I hardly think they care whether a f/a wears a tie or not.

Also, pleas e respond to this: Are you embarassed that DP as CEO doesn't wear a tie? If no, why not. He represents our company and country.

Its not like he goes into important business meetings with lenders, vendors, etc...tieless.
He goes tieless around campus day-to-day.
He wears a tie when its dictated by business custom.
He wears his tie with common sense.
I'm not embarrassed a bit.

Oh, I too think this designer is going to do right by USA. Any designer brave enough to say "no double breasted blazers" is all right by me! That's why I've been saying, "now is the time to speak up and get what you want." If you don't ask, and the new uniforms come out, and you don't like, well, you had your chance! If you want "options" -- if you want to look like an international carrier on the trans-Atlantic routes, now is the time to ask for it. If you want to look like you're going to the islands and want some piece of clothing to reflect the island "spirit", now is the time to ask for it. It's no fun to get new uniforms and then say, "we should've asked for X" -- X = more options, more colors, more accessories, more stretch, whatever.

However, the word "smock" conjures up Wal-mart in my mind... Yikes! He must be describing a different item of clothing, right? (And I never even suggested "muu-muu's".)

Aloha.
