Attended Stan Herman's meeting today in Phoenix

I don't know about that when I was furloughed and we had trouble paying the bills, the dollar store has all sorts of canned and boxed things that are not healthy and a meal could be made for for $3.00 total for three people. Aldi's is another place where cheap things can be bought - like 1.69 for encore meals and 99 cents for potatoes, chicken nuggets, boxed cheap mac and cheese. Then of course there was the sale items of breaded fish pieces, chicken pieces, at a far less price tag than chicken breasts etc.

People do not gain weight simply because they eat junk food like chips, cookies, candies, there is more to it than that. It is the type of food they can afford to buy to feed their family.

I have fed a family of three on 25 bucks for the week and trust me it WASN'T pretty.

or pay us more money so we don't have to shop at walmart and eat all that cheap discusting food that is about all everyone can afford these days with the rise of our medical, morgages, gas, child care etc,etc...most of usairway empltees cant afford to eat healthy..just a thought

An apple is cheaper than a Big Mac. A bunch of grapes costs less than a jumbo Snicker's candy bar. A head of red lettuce is cheaper than a Whopper and so on ........

I think you will find it cheaper to eat healthy and better for you, if you plan ahead.

I see many crewmembers now bringing mini-coolers on up to 4 day trips with healthy, inexpensive choices. Many rooms have small refrigerators and there is always an ice machine next to my room on the overnights.

A bunch of grapes isnt going to feed anyone. In a pinch Ramen Noodles and Hamburger Helper can be streched for a month for quite a few people. I'm sorry to say I've had to do this while living several people to a two bedroom apartment even after losing our airline jobs.

Are you supposed to be by an ice machine? Isnt pretty much standard that crews cannot be next to an ice machine or on the first floor?

Since we are working a whole month without getting paid (we were recalled June 1st but not getting our first paycheck until June 30th) I try to eat at work. International at least has a hot meal-- its crap airline food but in a three day i get fed two hot meals and pay for one on the layover. On a domestic four day i have to buy at least four meals and fill the rest of the time with Cape Cod chips and honey sesame sticks.

Any talk of "specialty" items for Hawaii/Carribean routes?

At the PHX meeting, Stan did ask about floral shirts or something for Hawaii.
The reserve Chair was present and she spoke up and said she could already hear the reserves complaining if the were forced to buy a 'special' shirt to carry around in their bags 'just in case'.
Plus, how even if they weren't required to buy it, they would end up being the only one on a crew of festive floral line-holders who was wearing a plain uniform, making them look and feel out of place.
So, we talked about mebbe a floral apron or something that would be more affordable and easier to keep in your bag.
Ron Cole put in his two cents here, and sounds like he would like to see a more casual, comfortable shirt for the Carribbean, Hawaii, Mexico, and South America markets.
So I would say its a definite possibility.

We're talking about uniforms here not your unhealthy food choices. Let's keep this thread about uniforms please. THank you.

I'd be all about the flower in the hair or even a lei, but I'm not so sure about changing into a mummu for Hawaii. Seems kind of pointless.

Is there a plan for Express? Either a different uniform (extra cost) or perhaps keeping express in the current uniform and making that the express uniform that only they where. There should be a clear difference between who is mainline and who is express.

Please, No Ties, and No Suit Coats, We are LCC now. Take the money that you would spend on Suit Coats and Ties, and put it back in the paychecks. The last thing I need to be wearing, is a suit jacket and a tie while I'm trying to lift a 300lbs. passenger into a straight back chair, then down the stairs of the Dash-8, on a 95 degree day. PLEASE, somebody wake up before it's too late.

PLEASE NO TIES AND COATS FOR CUSTOMER SERVICE AGENTS .... We have to lug bags, and run steps all day. Try working in baggage service luging 100's of bags a day or meeting a/c on hot jeyways or running steps all day meeting rjs on the ramp in the rain.

Let the flight crews (FA's) wear what they want BUT PLEASE GIVE GROUND PERSONAL SOMETHING CASUAL.

That will not work for Carribbean on the East as we do not do just that one leg. You may do a Carribbean turn in the middle of the day, and I will be damned if I am going to chnage into a different uniform in the middle of the day.

deltawatch, be calm.
If you've been paying attention, you'd know that the mgmnt for the New USAirways wants business casual.
I don't think you need to worry about ever wearing a coat and tie again, if that is what you choose.
Go to one of the Stan Herman meetings if you can, and you will feel much better.
I wouldn't be surprised if there was NO jacket option for ground personell, just to save $$.
The meeting I attended was designated for Inflight, so I don't know what was discussed at the second meeting designated for ground agents.

secondhand info here, but apparently that was brought up in BOTH the philly and phoenix meets and mr herman was surprised. he said that like customer sewrvice it may be the same but different color accents... as long as they are not wearing my uniform... we were never so embarrassed than when they put US Airways Express on our E170s because we were humiliated to be associated with those express f/as... give the wholly owned a similar uniform to ours, they are the real express and will wear it well but let the for-hire airlines wear the generic prison matron uniform.

most of those companies work for several airlines so they just use the US uniform because its so generic with generic buttons and then they change the tie or scarf. they will not be able to do that with the new one nor should they be allowed to... our uniform should not be worn on a delta or united express flight.

also heard that he doesnt want to do vests he likes them but they are old fashioned and not business casual. i like them with a skirt and scarf... naughty schoolgirl look! :)

It would be like a day without orange juice wouldn't it EMBFA? Just out of curiosity who told you that you were better than anyone else?

Watch out America West folks......this is a common US AIRWAYS attitude about a lot of things.

I really would like a fitted vest to wear but heard from my roomate who attended the PHL roundtable that Stan does not want to do a vest for us. Anyone hear this? Even if we don't get a vest as an option I feel MUCH more positive about Stan designing the uniform.

etops will Not like that!
