Interesting enough AA could reduce health care cost by offering employee vouchers for fitness centers and healthy food purchases.

But the lowly working man is not likely as worthy of that assitance when compared to Arpey's vehicles and country clubs.

Not to mention the consulting firms have not advised such a move, therefore nothing is available.

Thats because they want you to die, then they wont have to put as much into the Pension.

" was paid $100,593 in a personal allowance which the company gives to its executives in lieu of paying for car leases, club memberships and split dollar life insurance."

Arpeys pocket change allowance is more than waht most workers at AMR make in a year. Some shared sacrifice. Didnt somebody say that most of the perks were gone? I guess they dont consider $100k a perk!

If this is what you make when you lose Billions, then what would it be with a profit?

Gerard Arpey, chief executive officer, $4.72 million

Thomas Horton, chief financial officer, $2.16 million

Daniel Garton, executive vice president of marketing, $2.16 million

Robert Reding, executive vice president of operations, $2.08 million

Gary Kennedy, general counsel, $1.38 million.

A CEO that leads a company and again loses almost 500 million sure does not deserve 4 million in pay! He is as big of a loser as Carty and we need to get rid of him too. $4 Mil ?? RP has got to go!!!!!!! [/b] (Deleted by moderator: unsubstantiated accusations.) GIVE US OUR AIRLINE BACK NOW!!!

I also think it is time for Arpey and his gang of consulting firms to move on. The consulting firms are more like insulting firms.

We need to find one of those gems at another airline that is't being paid a bonus to stay. Instead of worrying about ours leaving we need to run them off and get another.

Stuff like that is what kills any credibility these guys had left....

Credibility? They've been out of that for awhile now.

I would have to play the contract like a concert pianist and spend over 100 hours a week on the clock to even get near $100K, Arpey gets it as an allowance for "Club Memberships" and the like...

But we're the reason the company is stagnating? Riiiiight.

Who exactly do you think isn't going to be under some form of retention plan at another carrier?

I seriously doubt anyone of any quality would be willing to deal with the steaming pile of poo at AMR unless there's a significant financial upside for them. If you think the current executive team demands a lot, anyone worth bringing on at this point is going to be demanding something on the order of what Tom Horton got to come back from AT&T, and y'all complained about that if I recall...

I guess $4 million a year in total compensation is not enough,,,,,so they get country club memberships or the deal's off.

At this point why not try somebody who's not in the old boys network?

Fair enough

Combine Arpey's pay with the millons he spends on Consulting Firms and get someone that knows how to run an airline.

Horton bailed out in June of 2002 for AT&T when things were getting tight at AMR and didn't come back until he had been made 'redundant' at AT&T after their merger with SBC.

What ever happened to "Money isnt a motivator"? Funny how when we talk about the Executive Class rediculous amounts of money are required, more than most can reasonably spend, to "retain" them despite the fact that we have more MBAs per capita than any other country on earth but when we talk about working people some say that a pat on the back or working on new airplanes is more important than being able to pay your bills.
