According to Aviation Daily, US has applied for codeshare service via Lufthansa to place its code on flights from FRA to TLV. No word on what's happened yet.

Wasn't this part of the original LH codeshare application submitted to the DOT?

TLV is a market US Airways should be seeking to fly to on its on as well as through codesharing agreements. I think it would do well out of PHL or PIT. PIT because it has one of the largest jewish and eastern european populations outside of NYC.

More widebodies that can fly a greater distance!

At a little over 5700 miles, can an A-330-300 make it non stop?????

A good question. Dont they have a hard time with full passenger loads and full cargo, just coming back from FCO? I would imagine TLV would be a great oportunity to carry lots of cargo as well as people.

I believe that the A330-300 would be a little bit of a stretch. I think it would have to be a continuation of a European service.

On the other hand, the A330-200's which are curently on order (who knows if we'll ever see them), would make it without a problem.

AB 330-300 would not have appropriate fuel reserves to fly TLV-PHL. However AB 330-200 does, with the lose of 25 pax (240 approx.)

What are the chances of US Airways picking up the 11 remaining Airbus 340-300's from Boeing. Boeing is leasing 8 of the 17 A340-300's it aquired from Singapore Airlines back in 1999. The A 340-300 would definetly give US some lift.

Any thoughts?

Israel is famous for labor issues, primarily big problems if you pull out. TWA had a suit filed against it by local employees, demanding extraordinary compensation for being laid off. As a result of that (and a favorable local court ruling), AA dropped plans to resume the flights after they acquired TW. At one point, it appeared that if an aircraft were to land, local authorities would have seized it as collateral for a judgement.

What ARE the chances of picking up some additional widebodies? I was in the international terminal in PHL the other day and all of those flights looked full. If only we could move on from the super regional thing and start more long haul service. We have the best worldwide alliance and a domestic alliance that gives us presence everywhere we dont have it... are we going to take advantage of it? Smothering the east coast in RJs serves no purpose if you cant bring the folks anywhere else. Longer stage lengths for mainline aircraft will bring down the costs. I just dont think this management is interested in a mainline at all.

I miss the days of "Global Carrier of Choice" and "Impressions of Excellence." :(

LH is reducing its flights to TLV. They are operating them with B747 and ElAl is complaining of unfair advantage. For U to fly PHL-FRA-TLV and pick up some additional PAX would help LH and :censored: ElAl.

You don't need widebodies to fly to TVL( Lake Tahoe). Just Lockeed Electra's

Brings back fond memories.....That's about all we have these days.

I'd rather fly into TVL than TLV.

Not to get off of the subject any further...I have flown into TVL and TLV. TVL is a great airport to fly into. I flew on a Tahoe Air Boeing 737-200 from San Jose, CA
when they operated scheduled service a few years back. (It was actually operated by Casino Express while Tahoe Air was awaiting its own operating certificate). The approach over the lake is awesome...and the fare was ten bucks!
