AMR to Invest Up to $100 Million in AA Maintenance Services

Do you not think because of our success we can get what we gave up??
No, I don't think the twu is capable of getting back what we lost, plus a cost-of-living increase.

No, I don't think the twu is capable of obtaining SWA wages, although appointed rep Donnie V. likes to compare us to them in this months ATD insider.

No, I don't see the twu putting the "value" that maintenance brings towards the M&R contract only; I forsee it being divided amongst other twu contracts.

But hey, bring me back SWA wages and the previous contract, without a complete spinoff, I'll gladly eat crow.

Look on the bright side, there is no so-called distraction of a another union drive. No this time it's your show, if you fail, there will be a drive for sure.

This could also be prepping to spin MRO off into its own subsidiary...

Maybe we could be lucky enough to be spun off and then classified NLRB instead of Railway Labor Act.

That would make things real interesting, and the line would leave the TWU within months of the seperation.

All the while the TWU Cheerleaders are claming success, there own demise could be in the works right under their nose.

So now we know what you think of Mr. Hammack.

Sounds like a nerve has been hit. You are the biggest whiner out there and everyone knows it. You come to these boards to cuss someone out when you don't have the balls to do it face to face. Kevin should get a kick out of this one!!! I'll send him over to pay you a visit, how about that? Can you repeat to him what you said in front of everyone else? Or even in private?? I'd be willing to make a bet (a really big one) that you wouldn't! You can't stand the fact that the union you profess to hate (along with it's officersand members) has allowed us to turn a sharp curve. This post is proof of that.

I did expect this type of response from you. I'd be willing to bet everyone did as well! You're a class act brother!

P.S. Did you make it to the open house today? Should have confronted Hammack then...he was there all day. Too busy to be on his computer!!

Cuss someone? Where?

Not only will I tell you what I think to your face, I will inform others once you get your name on a ballot for re-election. Not much effort needed to send you back to the box as you are disliked more than even Burchette in the Hangars.

No, I didn't go down a get the 2006 hat that wasn't printed unitl 2007. Most of us work unlike yourself. That is pretty good though, celebrating 60 years one full year after the fact is par for the TWU. I will go down and get mine, as these items appear to sell on e-bay and I can use the extra money.

Yeah, I bet the whole TWU Stooge Crew was "busting ass" today at the union hall, and we just don't appreciate it. Did you get to kiss Carmine's ass today?

I'm not much different than you MCI!
I know this is a loaded question....but who do you give the credit to??????

This won't come as a suprprise to anyone...I give 99% of the credit to local TWU leaders/officers and the members who worked so hard, amongst criticism from many, and held their ground. You can bet your ass that the TWU will have all the leverage it needs come negotiation time!!! Poetic justice?????? Maybe.......
My prediction....this board will become real quiet. Not too much action for the past couple of weeks now. HMMMM???? Curious!!
Following your line of logic workers at Walmart are better off working for low wages (without a union) and better off working OT without pay because then Walamrt will grow, earn higher profits and hire more people. The success of Walmart and AA is more important to people like you than workers ability to earn a decent living.

The only difference between Walmart workers and TWU/AA workers is that they dont pay for a union to tell them that working for less is good for them, management does it without the middleman.

The NYT and other papers across the country are citing the discontent of Flight Attendants and Pilots yet we hear nothing about the TWU, it seems that $3 million a year is money well spent by AA.$3 million a year to silence 30,000 workers is a bargain!

Who was kissing the company ass when the Turbine Building was extended and the parking lot enlarged in the 1980's?

Who was kissing the company ass when Hangar 6, the Automated Wharehouse, the Plating Shop, and the Cam Building were built?

My point is that AMR/AA has invested substantially in the Tulsa Maintenance Base in the past, when the airline industry cycle was poised for a profitable upswing. It is not the ass kissing program that Burchette and the others want to believe caused the decision to invest.

The fact is, it has now been years since a large Capital Investment has even been an option for the AMR Board of Directors. We are far behind the curve in the need for upgrades and capital improvements, and I acutally have concerns that $100 Million is enough for the three maintenance bases and line maintenance to utilize.

Don't get me wrong, I am elated that Capital Investment is once again even possible. But I reject the notion that the company ass kissing program is responsible for that investment. I have watched these cycles come and go in the industry, and I am very greatful that the damage of 9/11 did not eliminate the industry cycle, but instead just jolted it with a temporary disruption.

Just think with this 100 mil. being spent on up grades, TULE will be up grading from barbeque to steak. With the Delta hangar at DFW opening, DFW can off load TULE of unwanted mods that are part of the TULE budget. DFW will not get the credit for the saving because it’s in the TULE budget, in return TULE will get a steak dinner.

At Enron, management was just "cooking the books", in Tulsa management cooks the books, some BBQ, and soon some steak wiht upgrades!

Local 514 has the open house for the new union hall. Carmine, management, and the politicians are all there with the union officers for hamburgers. When the membership finally gets off work and shows up, the food is all gone and nothing for them to eat! Imagine that.

Whatever you say. I am not complaining, I am pointing out the glorious facts of life at the Tulsa Base with the TWU and the likes of Burchette and Hammack running things. Is it not true management ate at the hall? Is it not true there was no food left when the membership arrived after shift work? Get Honest, will ya?

BTW, You sound just like Bill.

Did you pick up a new alias due to being called out?

One would think you could garner enough support for your position that you wouldn't have to stoop to the shell game of alias' on the bulletin board.

I CAN SEE YOU!

Interestingly, this seems to be a microcosm of the larger situation.

<_< ---- Bill I give the credit to the man on the floor for getting us to this point! It is do to their hard work, and sacrifice,no one else's, that we're in the position we are in today! If your such a fan of the TWU, answer me this! Why didn't the TWU have enough foresight to negotiate a "snap-back clause" into our last "concessionary contract?"---- And the jury is still out on if this "co-operation with the company" will be beneficial to the membership! The "shared sacrifice" rhetoric was blown out of the waters with the disclosure of executive bonus!!! What I'm trying to say is, the simplest way to stop all criticism of the TWU, is for them to negotiate a contract that provides it's members a fair share of the profits AA is now enjoying because of our efforts and sacrifice! But honestly! I don't see anything more than a "mediocre" improvement!--- Prove me wrong!

Management being invited by union officers to eat at the union hall, but yet they put members in bad standing at the same union hall for wearing another unions tee-shirt. At least they have proved this unions priorities once and for all.

Look at the bright side, in the past they just went straight to bed with them(pj party), now at least their feeding them.
