Will AA be the only airline to furlough more F/A's in this economy now that both UA and CO have avoided it? My guess is yup!...Why? Because they can...Thanks to the APFA there is nothing stopping them from doing so...Any thoughts on this? Why is AA likely to be the only airline to continue to furlough flight crew?

Could you provide a link or a quote or any substantiation? Here's what the company said on April 15, 2003 in the 10-K:

Revisionist history persists.

Sure, look in the most recent plaintiff RPA brief. SWoo too how APFA solde you the F/As out to get rid of Don Carty. You took bigger pay cuts just to get rid of Don Carty, JW.s obsession.

Except for the fact that the other carriers had less padding in the ranks, more people leaving and more people who wanted to take leaves. I guess in your eyes that equals an APFA conspiracy.

No, just better work rules to help offset. The loss of furlough pay and benefits during an OLV cut the throats and jobs of 8000 f/as. The APFA was unable, unwilling, or too uneducated to negotiate recall by-pass, voluntary furlough, earlier more extensive job sharing, and seniority retention incentives to offset job loss.

APFA has never had to face such a consequence in its past. The last time AA laid off was in the early 1970's. The AA FA's were too complacent and as you say "unable, unwilling, or too uneducated" to negotiate something that didnt increase the size of there checks right away. The brains and brawn of the APFA came from mainly JFK,LGA,ORD and BUF. But they had to appease the big chuck of votes being the Dallas Dollies. Then comes john ward and the rest of his ILK who's vendetta against 4000 FA's screwed us all.

Following that I believe that APFA has not been given a decent chance to negotiate anything for furloughed or potentially furloughed, with out an AA boat anchor attached to, any agreement that could have had a chance of helping.

There are consequences to every action and the APFA is reaping the fruits of their decisions. Need I say more?

More job losses are not surprising. The "green shoots" of recovery everyone was talking about last month have wilted and the recession grinds on with no end in sight. And as unemployment continues to rise demand for discretionary items like travel will fall even further, compounding airlines' main problem.

I hope attrition and early retirements can save too many more jobs from being lost.
