Read this and then consider how much the PBGC is underfunded by Buck. You and I better hope the New AA keeps flying profitably for the rest of our lives.

AMR By the Numbers
Plans: 4
Total workers and retirees: about 130,000
Estimated pension assets: about $8.3 billion
Estimated benefits owed: about $18.5 billion
Estimated amount Insured by PBGC, if pension plans fail: About $17 billion
Premiums paid to date from AMR to PBGC: about $260 million
I dont know i just feel AMR will meet their pension obligations .Who knows they may be able to spread it out longer. I feel more confidence in AMR than the IAM plan.Just a gut feeling thats all

As of the current laws they are prohibited to stretch it out anymore.

They tried because of other airlines already were granted it but the exemption has since expired and AA was unable to get the same funding exemption.

Why don’t you go to the DOL site and pull the Form 5500 for the Grand Lodge pension and do a side-by-side comparison to the IAMNPF? The information is audited and publicly available.

Josh

Actually AA has stated there funded 85% which is allowed by law, with the remaining 15% that can be used by the company.
Could you please post a link to this information and law?

Because AA’s frozen pensions plans are only 61% funded.

Apparently you can’t think for yourself and making up lies.

What is fake in my post?

When you do not use your own material it is fake.

All I see is slander and false accusations, take your own advice and back up what you say.

What do you want to discuss?

Come back with facts and debate.

That goes for both of us, you run with no facts.
I have posted some links to where I am reading
You have posted nothing.

Or don’t you have to go defend swampy?

Not defense. I simply wanted to know why you suddenly showed up to attack him?

You are a low information and misinformation.

These people can read for themselves or are you use to doing it for them?

How do you find time to post while running the AMP drive?

Misinformation.
Why are you worried about the AMP drive and I am not running anything.
I am a supporter just like AMFA. But you came out of fear of possibly losing your union, all I can do is admit I am not running it. Enough cards were not signed or not enough interest. I have no problem with that.
Are you for real?

Even the media and authors use sources. You do know what source or a what a citation are?

You are really low information and misinformation poster.

If you throw in this T Shirt for every card signer I bet you’ll get em in mighty quick.

Heck you might even see a Weez card in your ORD Mailbox.
im thinking a raid on AA property against the cwa. Envoy most likely too splintered.

If members like john john arent interested then prolly not but i think they should consider.

Actually it’s AAG who’s now responsible for those past Pension obligations. AAG stands for the “American Airlines Group” AMR and LLC are both defunct.

And since the Industry has finished consolidating I also have a better feeling that AAG can meet those requirements in the future? But like all things nothing is absolute and people should plan as best they can ahead for all contingencies.

I have to assume living in your parents house and now owning it yourself has given you a nice wad of finances to count on in your old age that the IAMNPF is not exactly the major source of income your counting on to carry you through.

I suspect your house is likely worth anywhere between 5 to $800,000 so even after Capital gains Taxes have been accounted for you’ll still have a nice little nest egg left with that investment (Thank you Mom and Dad)

Can you beat their shirts Tim? Those bright red shirts they give out are pretty nifty.

CWA could be prime unmarked territory for you Tim. New waters so to say.

That was quite a postgasm, "Sito."

As for pensions, what is this? 1987? Who wants a pension anymore, let alone a multi-employer one? Aviation is in a new era. Time to fight for industry-leading 401k contributions and matches, and get your people paid today.

the iam went to obama to get the law changed. It was granted. They were allowed to extend and stretch out the losses. It would be pennies on the dollar otherwise. Still looks like pennies once again. Stick a fork in the plan.
