Just curious do working conditions in MIA.suckJust had a friend who couldn't stand MIA and transferred to CLT.He isnt the type to complain about work.

It’s an acquired taste for many people. I will give credit that “Management” is trying whatever they can to make improvements but the Airport is almost 3rd World so not much can be done about that.

Plus to be very honest many can’t hack the Demographics here. The lingo is a little different.

Al he has his own vendetta against Alex Garcia who was President here when he got fired and NYer believes he didn't lift a finger to get him back. And he was also supposed to be the TWU information man under Jim Little but again Alex Garcia took part in a coup that over through Jim Little and his hand picked successor Joe Gordon so to NYer Alex screwed him again.

Before him and I went our separate ways I asked him if he would continue the Political Coordinator position that I was trying to do something with if he won his Presidency back and his response to me Al I swear on my Mothers grave was "No I'll shut it down, I wont help Alex"

That was the EXACT moment when my opinion of him completely changed.

Anyway Al I'm just rehashing crap you've already read now that you can't tell me you don"t remember? And Josh just posted how much of a kiss ass NYer was when Little was still in office. Nyer's handlers got chucked out on their ass though and never even left him a towel to wipe the brown goo off his nose.

Why did he get fired

He can tell you about the 2 times if he wants to Al. I'm not giving away any secrets here that people in MIA already don"t know full well. Suffice it to say though since he was brought back being represented under a CBA worked out in his favor as it should have.

And I believe Alex Garcia was the local President under both circumstances but receives from NYer absolutely zero credit.

It's completely 100% personal for NYer. And it's incredibly juvenile and petty.

After we get a JCBA that's where my head is at. I've been asked to run by 3 different very well regarded people here in MIA so far and have said no. The last few years many things have left a very bad taste in my mouth. My lousy MIA President being just one of them. The greed of the Members being the biggest though Al.

Edit: I’ve always preferred helping people who I want to help and not those I have to help Al. Union Reps do have to represent some real horrible people more than they will ever admit to.

Weez why are you disgruntled with your TWU local? You realize if you ever have a need for representation with management they are the ones that will accompany and advocate on your behalf?

Serious question. To me it makes more sense to be upset at international for entering into this alliance and making decisions. The people at the local level have very little influence and sway in both the IAM and TWU structures.

You almost seem more cool with Alex than NYer, sure they are both from your station but again in an official capacity you’d have a lot more interaction with the local than international.

yes. it was 2003. Mozt all local chairman and almost all employees because they were pretty dumb and heard the word "pension" and were sold, even though it was a $47 million dollar concession. And their ignorance will end up costing them their full retirements. Cant fix stupid but alot of times the working man is his own worst enemy. Didnt help that charlie brown lied to them as well. CB is a big kumbuya guy. He knows it and I know it, but he blows smoke at them every week and they buy it. Sad.

Alex is awful for twu but his support for iam members should be commended.
