After all that US has done to PIT, the customers stay loyal

Actually, this is not too surprising.

There are three cities in the US whose populations are known to be intensely loyal and are relatively resistant to change. Marketing that works in other metropolitan areas often falls flat without local help and tweaking. When I was in another industry, we knew that we needed to modify the message and if the product looked home-grown, there was a much better chance for success.

Those three cities were/are Baltimore, Cleveland and Pittsburgh.

Are these the same "intensely loyal" 'burgers who have been know to burn ruts in Interstate 76 driving to Cleveland to board SWA flights?

Gimme a break. All legacy carriers (and probably most of the non-legacies) have a computerized revenue enhancement system in place to manipulate fares based on demand and competition. The jump in that passenger's fare might very well have been a result of JetBlue pulling the one PIT-BOS frequency. Or it could have been the fact that she waited until all the lowest fares had been bought, and the computer knew there would still be demand (and purchase) at the higher fares.

And those surveys that say people in Baltimore are intensely loyal? Yes. Absolutely. Look what a rough time SWA has had making a go of it there. They struggled from day one due to the inordinate loyalty of Baltimoreans to USAirways.

Busdriver, your answer is logically convoluted.

People were driving to CLE for financial reasons. When that financial bonus does not exist, B6 loses to US every day for many customers.

I could care less about PIT. The typical attittude in PIT is that of loving sports. Do they start that in kindergarten? PIT people can't read, but they sure can recite sports statistics. I can't stand pittsburgh people, but the city's elite does keep it looking nice.

Awwwww. Sounds like sour grapes or the mindless ranting of someone who has been jilted. No surprise to most of us on here given the idiotic tone of your posts.

Don't worry. We don't like you either.

PIT people can't read? Man you really told them!! Come on grow up....but you know what.....

In Superbowl XL, Pittsburgh came out of halftime and stretched its lead to 14-3 on the second play of the half as RB Willie Parker darted 75 yards for a score, just 22 seconds into the third quarter. The 75-yard run was the longest in Super Bowl history, surpassing L.A. Raiders Marcus Allen's 74-yard run against Washington in Super Bowl XVIII.... :bleh:

Who gives a rat's behind about those overpaid-steroid players. Not just the Steelers, the entire NFL. How long does Eastern Pennsylvania have to carry Pittsburgh and the western PA. financially?

I've lived in many different places including Pittsburgh. I found the people to be the nicest and most neighborly.
Some of the brightest minds in science and medicine come from PIT. The Pittsburgh medical center is world-renowned and attracts many for research and care. So I don't know where you get the impression that Pittsburgh people can't read. There may be a few that can't, but at least they are not ignorant.

You must be talking about PIT Penitentuary. Those are the people that can't get into Penn State, U of Penn. John Hopkins.

PIT was number 14 nationwide in 2006. Not too shabby.
