So, i'm not totally losing it...but it seems like AA is leaving PDX, or they are just outsourcing? Eagle is advertising for a full staff including a station manager on the aa website......

Sorry to hear that -- I've known the GM there for over 15 years... PDX seems to fit the same mold as OAK and CLT -- already outsourced below the wing.

Plus, with the codewhoring on AS/QX, AA would be able to maintain some level of presence via SEA and West Coast points...

Why would Eagle need employees in PDX? They have never flown to PDX and im quite certain they won't being flying to PDX from DFW/ORD with RJs. Are you refering to CLT ?

Eagle doesn't have anything that would make PDX except from SEA or LAX which would be completely duplicative with Alaska's current offerings. I would hope they don't pull out of PDX and that someone posted this with a typo, or incorrectly.

Horizon is going to all Q400's - getting rid of their CR7's

That's a smart move on their part. The planes burn less gas, are more comfortable than the CR7's and with routes less than 300-400 miles long, they are just as quick. Alaska's management team has a pretty good clue when it comes to fleet planning.

Sure they do; Eagle's CR7s could be used from DFW.

Could it be AS flies the PDX-DFW/ORD routes and AA Codeshares? Maybe even go as far as splitting costs on fuel, flight crew. Just want to save money from using the M80.

You are correct is seems. I was on the ramp in PDX, laidoff in 2003. This tells you how bad things are going to get, with fuel. Eagle did try once before flying DFW-BOI, but the aircraft couldn't make it. So..., looks like LAX-PDX, or SEA-PDX on Eagle might be the ticket. If so..., Say goodbye to all those 30 year AA/PAX/agents (my friends)

My guess would be PDX still sees AA metal, but it's AE people working it.

P.S. American air surf--

The breakfasts you guys used to put on ramp side were fanatastic (and sorely missed after it was stopped)!!

Someone just told me Eagle was awarded the ramp handling contract at PDX, which is what they're hiring for, even though they won't have any Eagle flying at PDX. It's been 10 years since AA sold off AMR Services, so I guess Eagle sees some growth opportunity in that line of business... if they pick up ramp handling contracts elsewhere, it makes them look a little better as a spin-off....

As good as a RJ contractor can look with the impending Mesa bankruptcy, SkyWest's earnings troubles, ExpressJet's inability to make money, and oil at $125. There is no way that the AE spinoff happens and that it works out well for AMR.

Unless Mesa implodes and sh*ts the bed...

Eagle's biggest liability right now is the boatload of 37 and 44 seaters. There's not really a market for those unless you're doing a corporate conversion.

What I just heard, AA is out of there July 1st, or so the agent (PDX) just told me. Additionally, if Eagle were just handling the ramp on a contract basis, they wouldn't be LOOKING for a GM for PDX....
