Flyboy, two problems with the story you heard...
1. MU trips are not assigned until the day before the trip; so, I fail to see how someone could "load up" their schedule and then get "all" their trips back from the parking spot. They would have to do this every day they were on MU.
2. There are no trips in OT most days at SLT. In the first 7 days of contractual February (31JAN-06FEB), there have been a grand total of 15 MU assignments made in SLT (I just counted them). That is less than 3/day. And, I did not see a single case where the same person got more than one MU trip in those 7 days. I'm not saying it didn't happen, but I didn't see anyone's name appear on the MU assignments more than once.
I'm on the warpath about Crew Scheduling transferring what little we do have in OT to DFW and then giving it to people on MU down there. We had a 3-day sequence worth 16.50 (IIRC) in OT the other day. They deadheaded a DFW f/a from the MU list to STL where she laid over then worked the first leg of the 3-day back to DFW (10hrs, 6.21P&C). Another DFW f/a then worked every leg except the last one. A 3rd DFW f/a then worked the last leg, DFW-STL, laid over and deadheaded back to DFW the next morning. That one position ended up being worth over 30 hours, plus two additional hotel nights. Where is the company saving money on this? Plus, there were any number of reserves in SLT sitting around doing nothing. In the first 5 days I was on call (31Jan-04FEB), I sat airport standby on Sunday, the 1st. That measly 5 hours made me #8 of 21 for Monday, #9 of 19 for Tuesday, and #9 of 20 for Wednesday. Needless to say I didn't get called.
