This is news? Where have you been? And Obama won, in case you were going to break that news next.
This was happening waaay before we hit hard times at every base, is still happening, and will probably always happen.

Really? Talk about breaking the most uninspiring news of the day. Do you really talk to any current F/A's on a regular basis? Skymess is totally right. This has been going on for YEARS!!! All one has to do is look at the MU list on a semi regular basis and see the same people on it. Nothing earth shattering here. It was going on before, during and will go on after any furloughs. It really happens when trips are hard to come by. Which if you ask your friends, they will tell you that yes, trips are hard to come by if you are used to flying high time. So when are you filing your lawsuit? And please enlighten us on what grounds you would be filing. I had a bad day today and need something, anything to make me laugh.

Flyboy, two problems with the story you heard...

1. MU trips are not assigned until the day before the trip; so, I fail to see how someone could "load up" their schedule and then get "all" their trips back from the parking spot. They would have to do this every day they were on MU.

2. There are no trips in OT most days at SLT. In the first 7 days of contractual February (31JAN-06FEB), there have been a grand total of 15 MU assignments made in SLT (I just counted them). That is less than 3/day. And, I did not see a single case where the same person got more than one MU trip in those 7 days. I'm not saying it didn't happen, but I didn't see anyone's name appear on the MU assignments more than once.

I'm on the warpath about Crew Scheduling transferring what little we do have in OT to DFW and then giving it to people on MU down there. We had a 3-day sequence worth 16.50 (IIRC) in OT the other day. They deadheaded a DFW f/a from the MU list to STL where she laid over then worked the first leg of the 3-day back to DFW (10hrs, 6.21P&C). Another DFW f/a then worked every leg except the last one. A 3rd DFW f/a then worked the last leg, DFW-STL, laid over and deadheaded back to DFW the next morning. That one position ended up being worth over 30 hours, plus two additional hotel nights. Where is the company saving money on this? Plus, there were any number of reserves in SLT sitting around doing nothing. In the first 5 days I was on call (31Jan-04FEB), I sat airport standby on Sunday, the 1st. That measly 5 hours made me #8 of 21 for Monday, #9 of 19 for Tuesday, and #9 of 20 for Wednesday. Needless to say I didn't get called.

Jim....

I understand what u are saying and I respect that, but I have heard from the "Horses" mouth. They know F/A's who will NEVER take any leave knowing they can drop ALL trips on their schedule ( VERY EASY TODAY} so their "Friend/s who holds a line" put their schedule on their's", and then go to makeup pickup Extra Hours being on makeup...Last check of my contract stated I am "Guarneteed 70 hrs a month" . Yes, I am paid 70 hrs a month whether I fly that or not.....However, I Was guarnteed Under My contract to "FLY" 70 hrs. I want to "FLY" 70 hours Every Month! not just be paid for it!!

It's virtually impossible to go on MU the ENTIRE month and be eligible for MU WHILE also having someone elses schedules. Their days on would all have to be at the end of the month. That also wouldn't quite work because you wouldn't have any of your trips left to do the DBTT with. I suppose it is possible if you want to OE your entire schedule to yourself so they don't count as incentive.

They'd also have to be senior enough to hold MU and there would have to be MU trips in there to pick up.

This thread is a total waste of time, energy and common sense. MOD please close!!!

Could someone translate this inside baseball discussion into plain speak so I can figure out what everyone is talking about?

Thanks

You have to be in this circle to really understand what's being said. It's going to take more than a few simple words to get you into the loop. Sorry....
