Once again, disgruntled employees the cause for bad press.....Never AA's fault.

Did you really expect any other answer from the PR people at AA? We are disgruntled when we complain or bring forward a legitimate complaint.

Another reason to disband the FAA as a both an aviation promoting agency AND a safety agency....

Of course it's Arpey's fault that pilots flew 10 flights with an inop "air data computer." That's evidence of a systemic problem with AA management.

There is NO accountability at AA. From the mech who takes 8 hours to adjust a trey table, to the head of maintenance who has brought are reputation/quality down to what it is today. I don't know of anybody who is scared to be held accountable for his work, except maybe management. Not to mention the lack of vision of ouyr executives. in 2003 they got back huge concessions from us, AA could be the Lufthansa tech of north America. But they passed on the opportunity looking instead of the easy way of managing by not paying the employees. I'm pretty sure a European Mech isn't working for less then what he's worth.

It's the environment created by management. I remember a time where nearly every MEL (deferred item) was cleared on an overnight check. Now, we just follow the rules and take the MEL to it's max time.

But hey, since money is not a motivator.......what do you expect?

Understand something, FWAAA......NO ONE IS DOING ANYTHING MORE THAN THEY HAVE TO.....

THAT, MY FRIEND, IS THE RESULT OF AA MANAGEMENT AND ITS POLICIES. TOWARDS MAINTENANCE AND LABOR.

The office and desk-bound are incapable of understanding the "nuts-in-a-vise" type of accountability - desks and chairs are far safer and certainly more non-committal.

Yes - a systemic problem that will eventually carry over to the rest of the industry and kill a lot of people, all to make a few extra bucks or get a bonus or brownie points.

The systemic problem you refer to is a matter of ethics in business - there are none.

WHOA!!! Hold the PHONE!!
OK, So WHERE WAS the Maintenence Controller for that FLEET?? What the hell was he/she DOING all this time??
If the start valve was failed it HAD to be deferred.. The Deferral had to be addressed, as it was probably a 10 day deferral. If it WAS deferred it has to be reviewed NIGHTLY. If it's reviewed NIGHTLY and it's Broken more than twice in a 75 Hour period
It's CHRONIC!! It Has to be Reviewed by the Maint Controller for "Chronic Review". Once it's Identified AS CHRONIC!! You've got to have a PLAN for the REPAIR, If after 3-5 times repairing with NO FIX you're REQUIRED to take it out of Service for a POSITIVE!! Repair !! And management ain't got a DAMN thing to SAY About it!!
SO?!? What am I missing here?? Are the FAA in Texas Friends of American's or what?? Because I work for United in Chicage and I can tell you WHAT! We ain't singing KUMBIYA AND HOLDING HANDS AROUND A CAMPFIRE WITH THEM!!
We have a relationship based on "Mutually Assured Destruction" With ME and My Fellow Maintenence controllers Suffering the DESTRUCTION !!! There's more to this story than is being TOLD..
