A330s

A sweatshop staffed with eight year old orphans in Laos.

Hey we have a large population of Hmong here in the upper Midwest and frankly they work harder than any Prima Donna major airline pilot. There are 9 threads on pilot issues. Be Gone!

In the recent PHX Crew News session with the pilots, one asked about the A330 for Hawaii Service. Just wondering will the West ever see the A330 out of PHX to anywhere?

Unless US decides to start Asia service first, which would almost have to be from PHX, the first will probably be the A350's to Europe from PHX. PHX is a somewhat more competitive connecting point between the west coast and Europe than PHL and definitely better than CLT.

They could do PHX-Europe now with A332s. I would assume the first priority for the A350s would be to open up PHL-Asia routings.

Western Europe, yes. Anything else would be a stretch westbound. Remember that max range comes with max fuel, which usually means limiting passenger/cargo weight. I'm not sure that there's a current model transport aircraft where you can fill the seats and tanks and be legal. I agree that PHL-Asia would get A350's before PHX-Europe unless an economic meltdown in Asia affected the profitability of Asia flights.

Usually the A330 goes to Singapore Technologies Mobile Aerospace in Mobile, AL.

Wonder if good ole Dr Bronner gets a kickback?

True, but I don't think anyone realistically expects PHX to have service to anywhere beyond that region (in the next decade at the very least).

The altitude and the heat are certainly not beneficial. One thing that would help is that those routes would be eastbound out of PHX, whereas Asia would be the other way...troublesome, especially in the winter.

Although PHX-Asia is northwesterly from PHX (not that much different than PHX-ANC), I don't expect to see Asia service till after the A350's arrive and they'll first be used for Europe from the east coast before PHX-Europe. Here's my forecast/timeline, which could change with economic conditions in Europe/Asia:

A332's replace 767's
767 either replace older 757's or go back to leasor's
A350 east coast-Europe, replacing 767's or additional service
A350 east coast-Asia
A350 PHX-Europe
A350 PHX-Asia

That would be a pretty darn good guess Jim...

Back to the Envoy Suites... I don't know who came up with that idea, but I think it is awesome. They are VERY comfortable and offer at least some degree of privacy.
