2015 Pilot Discussion.

Interesting article in today's Wall Street Journal.
Clint Eastwood backs Sully for President, citing his courage and willingness to stand up for what is right. He stood up for east pilots as well when the Nic was rolled out.
Meanwhile, west pilots attempt to vilify Sully to this day. 2002 hire Mitch Vasin wanted to sit on top of every east pilot he possibly could. Shame on you Vasin. Clint Eastwood has an extremely low opinion of you.

Sully, welcome to Phoenix
Open letter to Doug Parker.

Dear Doug:

I'm writing to express my complete and utter disappointment with
today's announcement that Captain Sullenberger will be appointed to a
management position within the company. In fact, as a result of Capt.
Sullenberger's decision to use his new found fame as a weapon against
1800 former America West pilots in a recent federal court case over
pilot seniority, I find the company's announcement particularly
insulting. Not only does this decision now forever discredit the
company's purported "neutrality" in the pilot seniority issue, but it
also calls in to question the credibility of the entire safety
management team. As I hope you'll agree, it is in everybody's best
interests to keep flight safety an issue that is far removed from
politics.

I can respect that Capt. Sullenberger has his own personal opinions
regarding the seniority situation, however, I believe that his
decision to testify in court raises reasonable question as to his
ability to adequately perform his new duties without bias. Capt.
Sullenberger did not provide any relevant testimony in the case, and
was only called to testify by USAPA in the hopes that his celebrity
status would unfairly influence a jury. Instead of limiting the use
his celebrity status in support of productive goals such as promoting
aviation safety and the image of US Airways, he blatantly abused that
status by unnecessarily inserting himself on the losing side of an
issue that he played no prior role in. I cannot be reasonably assured
that he would not similarly misuse his position in management.

While I'm certain that this letter will fall on deaf ears, I can
assure you that this letter by no means an end to this issue, and that
you will be in need of much more than a well polished statement at a
crew news session to address it.

Sincerely,
/s/
Mitch Vasin

. And in one of the less controversial statements in an interview full of otherwise controversial statements, the famously gruff Eastwood explains that his ideal candidate is the subject of his new movie "Sully."

Yes, "Sully" is based on the story of Chesley "Sully" Sullenberger, the US Airways pilot from Danville who performed the "Miracle on the Hudson" in 2009, successfully landing his disabled plane on the Hudson River and saving the lives of all passengers and crew on board.

Eastwood's film, starring Tom Hanks as Sullenberger, is due out September 9.

As Esquire magazine noted, with "Sully," Eastwood explores the story of one person who stands up for his principles against people who want to take him down.

Exactly. Is it not in fact any pilot's actual DUTY to NOT fly if sufficiently fatigued when not being up to the task? It isn't like this is any sort of wartime "mission" in any event. NO ONE dies if you're not able to fly.
" NO ONE dies if you're not able to fly."
Per your claim above, I'd be very careful with some of these Spartans. Take cactus boy for example; he claims to ride motorcycles as well as fly little airplanes and shoot guns. Not a good pastime for intellectually challenged individuals. His rantings on here are all anyone needs to determine that he makes a good candidate for the next Darwin Award recipient. If he were to come to work, at least F/O Simmons would have adult supervision. But then again you would have to consider whom would be supervising him. Capt Aux, Capt Gay, Capt Anger all come to mind, maybe it would be best to stay home!

Just last week we had another winner. A man was in a new car lot stealing the tires off a SUV when the jack fell and the vehicle crushed him.

There really isn't much to say after the 9th's ruling, they summarized the east holes' deviant behavior quite well.  And this comes just in time for the SLI with APA seems to coincidental, doesn't it?  Regardless, the east holes have lost, we will see the NIC implemented soon, possibly by the next system bid at US.  I'm looking forward to flying the big bus!
Just priceless...........and clueless.........would that be a greyhound bus cupcake?

Fair points all...I should've more properly noted that NO innocent people die if one's too fatigued to fly. In defensive fairness to my earlier; the obvious dangers inherent in leaving the likes of cactusboy/"crasy susie"/"capn' aux" et al without adult supervision would seem axiomatic. ;)

The Nic. is the official list for the East West pilots. It won't change, it won't be reshuffled. It's written in stone. It will be blended into the APA list in it's present order. It's fair to the APA in the very same way it's been determined to be fair to both East and West. If they don't like it...just like you Eastholes... Too fking bad.

Would that writing be in soft soapstone............hey here's an idea, how about a polygraph.

HHHHHHAAAAAAAAAAAA! Fukc you too Son. Relax Courtney. You're in the safe hands of Eric Ferguson and Leonidas now. They promise to get you the best deal they can (under the circumstances) the Nic ALREADY happened. Just because your ears are clogged with KFC grease doesn't change that.

Sure we feel very safe......and its Bojangles.

When is the next conference call? That was hysterical!!! Had a bunch of folks over last night for cocktails and listened in. We all laughed out loud at you Aholes. Damn that was fun!! My favorite caller was some chick that said "enjoying the holiday wasn't realistic"! HA!!! Loved that one.

BTW, how is it the APA is supposed to give you fking morons another "east" committee when Scabford said that USCABA might not be done? Which is it? Are you supposed to get two committees? God Damn you Aholes are stupid. HA!!

Should have just taken the Nic. You'd have a hell of a lot more money to show for your pathetic wasted careers.

HA.......you should have taken the NIC when we offered it to you.......still laughing, didn't think so.

Interesting. The LAA guys on C&R really like how she holds the speakers to task. LOTS of compliments regarding her tenacity.
Maybe it's just you ..... oh wait. It is just you. We knew that in 2007! Big smiles.
She wasted far too much effort and did herself no favors. Valiant but wasted effort.. Sorta like buying ten Liberty Ties.

Should just call in fatigued (after a 30 hour layover in HNL). They pay attention to fatigue calls that affect ops, and you rest. They ignore crew news (it's a one way comminication forum, and if you haven't figured out which way you are way behind).

"Fatigue rest" or "irrational rant".. Your choice.

Perhaps First Officer SE will follow USAPA's emininently successful and oft used strategy of taking out a full page ad in USA Today, decrying the unsafe operations at AA.
At least she ranted at a company crew news, and not on the PA with a plane load of customers.....at least not yet.
Tony you know I really respected you regardless of your views , great kids, influenced by you and your wife , but your comments here are really out of line, you had a great ride , enjoyed your doh, do not spoil my opinion of you by your next post ! Enjoy your retirement TB!
