 Computer error pushes US Airways' prices below $2 per round trip
US Airways sold round-trip flights for just under $2 this weekend. The rock-bottom prices were the result of a computer glitch that lasted several hours. A spokesman said the airline will honor the tickets.

"Computer error ", "computer glitch", USAirways management may once again choose to blame someone or something else for this major debacle, but the bottom line is that is was a programming error that management failed to catch before or after release to the system.

The words ERROR and GLITCH seem to fit this management team like a glove.

OK Here's a what if for you----

What if, by some stretch of the imagination, this was a setup by marketing to get some press???? If so it would be excellent if not costly self promotion don't you think??????

It's just that I don't think there's anyone with the imagination to do something like this........although they did find a computer to blame for it

Art, my thoughts exactly.

I doubt it. I think the end result of this fiasco makes U management look like even bigger clowns than they are already.

Well the PR from the error seems to be on everywhere....looks like it might have been cheaper than using a NY AD agency....

That doesn't seem to bother them at all.

Was it that someone could've hacked into our pricing system or could someone be that stupid...in CCY?

Why would a bankrupt company, struggling for credibility, and selling accuracy, deliberately commit a major error?

Yeah, it was just tickets, next time might be safety that is screwed up.

Only if you're the same wonderful marketing wizard who brought us Seth would you think the above scenario is good guerilla marketing.

Not exactly confidence-inspiring.

Interesting thought, Art. The cities mentioned were pretty lowly originating cities...

Altoona, Pa.; Johnstown, Pa.; Jamestown, N.Y.; Asheville, N.C.; Bradford, Pa.; Hilton Head, S.C.; Watertown, N.Y.; and Lebanon, N.H.

With the exception of HHH and maybe AVL, I'd say >YAWN<

I wondered the same thing. This was all over the news yesterday, including CNN HN every half hour. I wonder how many thousands went to the U website to "take a look?" Best. Greeter.

So, if the teacher gave your kid an F instead of the "earned" B you all would be ok with that?

Prudent people are supposed to know better. Ethics works both ways.......
