Yes.  Agree.  Here is the 10Q report where we took in some used A/C for the first half of 2014 and are expected to take in 8 more by years end, it may grow larger as the options grow as we get further into 2014.  There are some really good numbers thru-out this report, with very positive out look for future, happy reading:

SOUTHWEST AIRLINES CO Files SEC form 10-Q, Quarterly Report

probably the most significant numbers are that trips flown are down 5.3% and numbers are down 2.1%.

Since WN is now completing the process of eradicating FL and operating their network the way WN would have, it is to be expected that their results will begin to show significant improvement.

Doesn't hurt that they cut 18 cities and a couple hundred flights per day off of their system - which is what you get if you factor in the 5% reduction in trips flown.

WN does have a bright future but they certainly had to clean the slate in order to be able to start fresh again.

"Southwest's CEO recently said it is eyeing Canada, along with Hawaii, Alaska, Central America and northern South America as possible destinations for its international expansion. Canada Jetlines Ltd. of Vancouver and Jet Naked of Calgary are also musing about launching their own low-cost airline services."

I am hearing that the first 3 listed will be huge.  WNMECH, you were right about growth expansion after RIOC is accomplished this year.  I can only hope we can get a hold of some more A/C quick enough.  Have you heard anything on our used A/C search?  Been very quiet on my end...

I only know that Gary K. said that there are a lot of opportunities in the used aircraft market.

I'm so looking forward to Canada, Hawaii, and Alaska!  :D

Yea me too Sharon.  Also hearing of island hoping once in Hawaii.  Just those three will give us years of expansion and growth.  Non-rev to Hawaii would be hard to do.  West-Jet in Canada is also gearing up for the new growth from SWA, if/when we go there...

island hopping or hoping?

so WN is going to take on Hawaiian for intra-Hawaii flying? They have a pretty strong on the intra-island market.

Of course if WN wants to go after the intra-island flying, it will put even more pressure on their int'l operation which provides opportunities for other legacies.

go for it.

approved.

As for Canada, go for that too. Air Canada is who is most vulnerable.

Hey, some more good news starting off the week.  I like the quote at the end of the 2nd article that DAL will be at 153 flts by Jan 2015.  The most I have ever seen out of LF.  I am also told this will get larger as we work our way into the spring and summer schedules.  Also announced in the middle of the release is added flts to DCA and LCA.    Watch us grow:)  Good times ahead folks:)
