WN Mechanics seek mediation

The pilots changed their union leadership and negotiators after the first one failed- so that added time to get a new agreement. Without that extra time it was about 8-9 months.
Even without adding 2% to 2012, but adding 3% to every other year, our base pay is short ~2.50/hr. I know they added $1 to license premium, but that’s on them- that shouldn’t count towards what our base pay SHOULD be.
I understand the base, but I always looked a raise , as a raise. The problem I see is if you take six months to get a T/A vote for whatever strategy , maybe make people mad to get a No vote. Our Negotiating committee has done nothing fast this whole time. So if the mediator has time, IMO our next voting opportunity will be April of 2019 at the earliest, unless the mediator knows about this rumor of this immediate offer we are lead to believe exist by some on this board. If that is not true there will be some people not happy ,who voted no expecting a quick solution.

You can look at a raise as a raise, but when they short the base pay- which all raises are based off of- then our raises come up short for the duration.
I don’t believe that they have another offer just waiting- but I also don’t think it’ll take us any longer than a year to secure another aip/ta. As far as voting yes or no- people gotta come up with that on their own, everyone has their own unique circumstances.

True, sure miss the old days when we just did extensions.

Not scared- but I also don’t blindly follow other people choices without looking at it for myself. I’m a no vote solely because of the money. I also don’t live in a fantasy world where people seem to think they can only reopen the economics. As far as the 2.75, I wouldn’t waste any time/energy for that because we’re already well past that ratio.
I do agree as well. But I still would like to see a minimum, say where we are now, 3.25-3.5'ish. That's how they came up with the 2.75 last time. I think it would be more of a "feel good" than anything else.
Don't get me wrong blue, I wasn't saying they would never open up previously T/A'd items, as we have all see them do in the past from one set of meetings to the next. Just saying it would be stupid of them, and a direct hit on the mechanics just to further their delay tactics and this would not sit well with the membership as they have been patient up until now, any more delays and/or stall tactics I just don't see the membership remaining calm.

You and I are in agreement 100% on these issues.

Again I agree with your assumptions here as well.
It won't be in 18 if voted down. I would guess more like mid to late 19. I say we stay with current date of contracts of Aug 16.

At least we are in reality there will not be an instant here is another offer.

Today will wrap up the Houston RS's for yesterday and today.
Dallas will start theirs tomorrow. Look forward to hearing all the reasons behind the NC not endorsing this T/A. After Dallas RS's I will make my mind up and vote accordingly. Good luck guys, but please get all the answers before making your decisions.

Just be glad when we vote. See how it goes, and go from there.

First RS in Dallas well attended. Majority of the meeting focused on #1 reason committee recommended a no vote, economics. I’ll have to admit they make a very good case for more money with only a 2.06% increase per year average in the current T/A. It was admitted that the retro was 100% of what the committee found acceptable but the hourly wage thereafter totally insufficient. Nothing notable mentioned on ratio or station protection. Also admitted, as mentioned before, ETOPS approval from the FAA has nothing to do with our contracts approval or rejection.

Whats the ratio of high time guys versus low timers at SW ? At UAL we got stuck with this last contract because all the low time graveyard guys voted yes and they out number the 30 year plus guys who voted no.

Economics, economics, economics!!! 3% for each and every year for the last 6 years and for the future 5 years, at this time, the more time we spend at the table, the more money it will cost the company.
They made a very good case.
Who the hell thinks etops will hold up our contract? They need to get a clue.
Wondering how the RS will go tomorrow.
Whatever the case, please, every mechanic and related vote. This should be a 100% membership participation vote, period...

Well unfortunately we have people spreading that rumor ETOPS is our trump card for a quick solution, and if we vote No, the company will come back quickly and give us more money for ETOPS. The only reason they want No is what I said economics. It was the same reason in 2008.

I see Max is just a disagree piece of ****, you can't even admit the truth , there is no ETOPS Trump card. Truth be known you are probably some junior guy with 5 years or less.

Driver- since when does seniority make you better than someone? Yeah, Max seems like a piece of work, but don’t forget that AirTran was only bought 8 years ago. Thats not much longer than the 5 years you’re talking down on...
