You've never thought, the only reason you're even in this part of the board is to attempt to annoy folks on the East. Now then where is the link to this poll? Don't have one? likely doesn't exist then.

Now run along and Fetch Dougie a beer! Did you visit him in prison too? See that's difference between Joe Pa and Doug Parker, Joe's never been to prison and has yet to be convicted of a crime. Remember Mr Paterno has been charged with NOTHING! Unlike 3 to 4 time DUI loser and your hero Doug Parker.

I await the link to the poll

I was mistaken it was front page of USA Today Sports section not ESPN.
About half way down on the right hand side.

Well now there's a newspaper of record. 4th grade reading level affectionately known as McPaper. When the WSj of NYT calls for his resignation I'll perk up. Mean time I'll pass. But thanks for posting the link.

You guys have your heads deep in the sand on this one. The PA Police commish
said the university employees who declined to report the incidents to the police put countless more children at risk of being abused by Jerry Sandusky, the longtime assistant who has been charged with sexually abusing eight boys over a 15-year span, including during his tenure as an assistant at Penn State. Frank Noonan, the police commissioner who spent more than 30 years with the F.B.I. and the attorney general’s office, said the nature of the alleged incidents was unprecedented in his experience.

Anyone who reads that report and finds that Joe P did what he should have done is kidding themselves.

WE Agree!

Could Coach Paterno been a little more zealous than he was in pursing the matter? Maybe.

I've followed Penn State for many years and one of the things that makes Paterno a great coach is his single mindedness. He got a report, likelt didn't buy it and reported what appears to be third hand information to the school administration and went about his business assuming the school would investigate.

Colleges in general are loathe to involve Law Enforcement when students are involved. Witness the 20 year old who was raped and muedered at Lehigh. The university stone walled the family all the way up until a settlement was reached and subsequent legislation past making it a crime to with hold crime stats from prospective students and their parents.

Jeanne Cleary Murder

It's looking like Joe Pa is in the clear but the University is in deep poop.

Agree. Paterno didn't observe anything firsthand, and wouldn't have had any reason to be involved or even notified of any of the other investigations regarding Sandusky, so I'm not sure if he's guilty of anything other than having been the head coach.

Teaching was my first profession, and at that time, we had an obligation at the time to report to the school administration for action. We were not allowed to contact the authorities. More recently, I went thru licensing as a foster care provider, which obligates me to report anything I see or hear to the authorities, regardless of the situation or where it is observed/reported.

Laws have also changed a bit since I was in a classroom, allowing teachers to go straight to the authorities, just as I have to as a foster parent.

All that said, if I'm questioned as part of an investigation, I'm not allowed to disclose it to others. There are lots of false accusations in the foster system, and it's not a matter of if but a matter of when someone is accused. Talking about something which may be unfounded later just trashes peoples' reputations.

The fact that the University turned their head and looked away a couple times is shocking. Sandusky should have been fired years before he was allowed to retire.

They guys was caught three times accused many other times. He still had keys and access to the facilities? They still let him bring boys for his overnight camp? The even let him ride with the team to bowl games with boys? He also was fired from his own charity for abusing boys. Joe absolutely knew of the stories and still associated with him and enabled his behavior, he will now most likely rot in hell! Joe ran everything at Penn State with an Iron fist it is beyond reason to think he didn't know.
